The style on ladies day was out of this world!
WHAT a fabulous day we had in Galway for the annual Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Ladies Competition. With a prize pot of €12,000 worth of goodies and cash, the ladies really pulled out all the stops!

Despite the weather forecast which threatened much rain, the sun shone on both the fashionistas and punters. On the day the crowds were up by almost 6,500 compared to the same day last year, so you can imagine the difficulties the judges had trying to find the 20-plus finalists. The judges included stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick, Barbara Power of Independent Newspapers and PJ Gibbons of Social and Personal magazine. Racing ahead in the fashion stakes to take the title was teacher Helen Murphy from Cork, wearing a duck egg blue and silver skirt, teamed with a beautiful neckpiece from our own Aisling Maher, Adare. We were close to piping Helen at the post with Emer Nash from Castlemahon winning the Anthony Ryans Wear Irish Award.

Ladies Day in Ballybrit continues to be the most stylish and glamorous fashion event on the Irish Racing Calendar. Roll on next year!
