Ballyhahill/Loughill ICA: Ballyhahill/Loughill guild of the ICA will hold their next meeting in the hall in Ballyhahill Tuesday night next 14th. January at 8.00 p.m. Hope to see all our members on the night,

IFA Co. Executive Meeting: Henry Burns chairman of the IFA Beef Committee will be the guest speaker at the IFA county executive meeting on Wednesday, January 8th. at 8.00 p.m. in the Woodlands Hotel, Adare. This is a very important meeting on the future of beef farming so all farmers are welcome even if they are not a member of the IFA.

Mental Health News: The West Limerick Branch of the Mental Health Association will resume its monthly meetings at Maple Lodge, Gortboy on Tuesday night January 14th. at 8.00 p.m.

Samaritans: The Samaritans have a new free phone number 116 123 and are trialling this new phone number in Limerick city and county and north Tipperary. Because of their very limited budget the Samaritans are reaching out to as many as possible to distribute details of the number.

Toastmasters: The next meeting of west Limerick toastmasters is Wednesday night January 15th. at the Desmond Complex from 8.30 p.m. – 10.30 p.m. This will start off the new season and people thinking of joining are made especially welcome on the night. Glor Tire: Micheal Collins the band leader with the Micheal Collins Showband from Tournafulla is a contestant in the new series of Glor Tire on Tina G. The first show will take place this Wednesday night January 8th. at 10.30 p.m. and Micheal is looking for votes so that he will be able to stay in the running. He is asking everyone who knows him to support him over the next few weeks.

Panto: Puss n Boots will be performed by the Killorglin players in the I.N.E.C. in Killarney on Sunday February 16th. A bus will be leaving Newcastle West at 4.30 p.m. picking up en route and stopping at the bus stop outside the Church in Abbeyfeale at 4.45 p.m. You will have time for refreshments before the performance commences at 6.00 p.m. Early booking is advised as this is a very popular event. Trad Concert Thanks: The organisers of the Trad Concert which was held at The Angler’s Rest in Loughill before Christmas wish to thank all the youth who played, sang and danced on the night. Thanks to our guests Sean Dalton, Mike Walsh, Alan Egan and Phil Nolan. Thanks to the parents who supplied food and spot prizes for the huge crowd who turned up and made the concert such a wonderful enjoyable night for everyone. Finally thanks to Tom, Eileen, Thomas and Grace O’Shaughnessy of The Angler’s Rest for their generosity on the night. There will be more Trad Nights to follow.
