CHRISTMAS PARTY: The annual senior citizens party was held last Sunday and 82 people sat down to dinner. Bottle of whisky was presented to Bob Roberts as the eldest man present and Joan Lee, the eldest woman, longest married couple present is John and Margaret Gallagher.

GAA: There was a very large attendance for the EGM which took place last Friday. After a very positive meeting the following officers were elected – chairperson, Chairperson, Kieran Daly, vice chairperson, Pat Dooley, Secretary Billy Davern, assistant secretary Marge Murphy, treasurer, Sean Deegan, assistant treasurer Mattie Quirk Snr. PRO Paudie Reale, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Officer, Pat Foley, Irish Officer, Pa Jones,

County Board Delegates, Declan Murphy, Gary O’Sullivan, South Board Delegate, James Daly. Football Board Delegate, Sean McAuliffe. A Financial and Field committee were also appointed on the night and a three man committee also elected to appoint managers for the respective teams in the coming year.

The last few Bord na nOg 2014 souvenir calendars are still available from any club coach or committee member for €5.

Indoor hurling returns Thursday January 16 in the community school hall.

Presidential visit: The Bord na nOg are honoured that the President of the GAA, Liam O’Neill will be coming to the clubhouse Friday February 14 to launch their new 3 year Bord na nOg development plan and a new underage coaching setup. All welcome to attend, more details to follow in the coming weeks.

WEDDING: On New Year’s Eve Sean Reale and Fiona Collins were married in Co Cork, Sean is a son of Marian and John, Millfarm and Fiona a daughter of Peggy and Pat. Reception was held in the Oak Hotel, Killarney. We wish them every happiness, they are now returning to Australia.

BEREAVEMENT: The death has occurred in London of Bridget Reed, nee Herr, formerly of Marian Terrace and a native of Hospital, she is survived her husband Ted and a son and daughter.

MILFORD HOSPICE: Hospital Fundraising Group for Milford Hospice will hold a presentation of cheque to Milford Hospice from Sponsored Walk 2013 at Devane’s Bar, Hospital on Saturday 11 January 2014 at 9pm. Music by Mike Courtney, free raffle and all welcome.

TEA DANCE: Will be held in Knockainey’s Community Centre on Sunday January 12, music by Dermot Lyons, dancing from 3pm to 6pm . Tea and scones will be served and a raffle will take place. All welcome.
