Card Game: The winners of the first prize at the card game last week were Jimmy O Connell, Necia Lane and Tom Lenihan. The runners up prize was shared between the teams of Nora Lyons, Anita Danaher and Ann Cahill, and Denis Flanagan, Dan O Connell and David O Connell. The winners of the table prize were Florence O Connell, John O Connell and John Lane. The winner of the door prize was Daisy Lenihan with the raffle prizes going to Anita Danaher, Noel Murphy, John Lyons and Florence O Connell. Cards will take place again on this Thursday night at 9pm and all are welcome.

Soccer Lotto: The numbers drawn last weeks soccer lotto were 7, 12, 17 and 23. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. The winners in the lucky dip draw were Mag Brosnan, Noreen Naughton, Mikey Brosnan, Tom Murphy, and Tom and Daragh, Brosna. The winner of the promoter’s prize was Evan Lacy. This week’s jackpot will be €1,700.

Ceili: The first ceili of 2014 in Halla Tadgh Gaelach, Tournafulla will be held on this Friday night, January 10th. Dancing will commence at 9.30pm to the music of Donnie Nolan and Taylors Cross ceili Band. Refreshments will be served during the evening and all are welcome.

Collection: The church gate collection before the weekend Mass on Sunday last in Mountcollins was in aid of Self Help Africa. The total amount contributed was €218.35, thank you to all who gave so generously.

Coursing Success: It was a great weekend for Mountcollins at the annual Abbeyfeale Coursing meeting with success for both trainer and owners. Congratulations to John Lenihan, Caherlevoy who trained “Time to Spare” to win the Glenashrone Stake and also trained “Gods my Judge” to win the Jimmy O Rourke memorial Parish Stake. Both winners are owned by local syndicates, well done to all.

Recent Wedding: Congratulations to Mike Dillane, Secontgloss, Mountcollins and Sinead O Connor, Knocknagoshel who celebrated their wedding at St Mary’s, Church, Knocknagoshel last week. The Malton Hotel, Killarney was the venue for their reception where the happy couple were joined by family and friends for a most enjoyable celebration. We wish Mike and Sinead every happiness for the future.

Fishing News: Mountcollins/Brosna Anglers Club will hold their annual “Spawning of the Salmon” draw in Danahers Bar, Mountcollins on this Friday night, January 10th. This is the clubs main fundraiser event for the year and your support would be greatly appreciated. As usual there will be many fine prizes on offer and lines for the draw are available at €5. There will also be a raffle with refreshments served during the evening along with entertainment and all are welcome.

GAA Lotto: There was no jackpot winner in last weeks Mountcollins/Tournafulla Gaa clubs lotto where the numbers drawn were 3, 23, 27 and 28.
