CHURCH READERS: The following are the readers at masses this weekend, Eamon O Riordan the 7pm on Saturday evening, and Pat O Dwyer at the 10am on Sunday morning.
NEWS LETTER: The school children produced the October edition of the parish newsletter last week, copies were available in the church at weekend masses, on the sports front the school is after a great run in boys football, they won their group pretty well, played Bulgadan in the semi-final, were behind by 5 goals at one stage, staged a wonderful comeback to win by two points. the boys played Glenbrohane in the final, after a great contest, the locals won 5 -3 to 3 -5, captain Jimmy Quilty accepted the cup, well done to all.
SCHOOL CHOIR: The school band and choir performed at the evening mass in the parish church on last Saturday, the amount of children playing instruments was amazing and a tribute to the hard work of so many at our school, the children were joined by members of the church choir, people very much enjoyed the music and singing, it is planned to have the choirs on the last Saturday of each month.
HURLERS DEFEATED: Blackrock junior B hurlers lost the county semi-final against Templeglantine in Ballyagran last Saturday. Our boys were not at their best and were well beaten at the end.
ARDPATRICK BLOOMS: The Limerick in Bloom prize giving ceremony took place at the Woodlands House Hotel, Adare on Wednesday night of last week. The village was awarded First prize in its category under 300 in population, competition is very strong in this category, members of the community council present were delighted with the award, prizes include €1000 and inscribed glass plaque and a framed certificate.
Its been a great year for Ardpatrick as far as tidy towns is concerned, many people have remarked on how nice our village is now borne out by the various adjudicators who visited and awarded the marks.
