PADRE PIO DEVOTIONS: in Knockainey Church on Friday November 1st which is also the Feast of All Saints, devotions at 7pm with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary and Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Confessions will also be heard, followed by First Friday Mass at 7.30pm.
NOVEMBER MONTH OF HOLY SOULS: from 12 noon on November 1st until 12 midnight on November 2nd all who have been to Confession, receive Holy Communion, prayed for the Pope’s intentions ( one Our Father, One Hail Mary) can gain a plenary indulgence by visiting a Church and there reciting one Our Father and the Apostles Creed. This indulgence is only applicable to the souls of the departed. Confession may be made any time within the week preceding or the week following Nov 1st. Holy Communion may be received any day from 1st to 8th Nov. The faithful who visit a cemetery and pray for the dead may gain a plenary indulgence applicable only to the Holy Souls on the usual conditions once a day from the 1st to the 8th November. It is very important to pray for our dead as they cannot help themselves but can help us.

KNOCKAINEY LADIES CLUB: Next meeting will take place on Monday November 4th – a member of the Garda Siochana will give a talk on personal and home security at this meeting.
KNOCKAINEY PARENTS ASSOCIATION: are holding a Fancy Dress Halloween Disco on Thursday night 31st October in the community Centre from 6pm to 7.30pm. Admission is €5per child.
GALA FASHION SHOW: Knockainey National School continue their gargantuan fundraising efforts with a Fashion Show in Bulgaden Castle on November 9. The first model takes to the catwalk at 8pm and fashion houses contributing include Shaw’s Department Store, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Burton For Men, Wallis, Be Fabulous, AX Paris, Mothercare, X-pose, Little Chancers, Kiddy Korner, Glow Fashion Accessories and Raspberry Red. Modelling will be done by a veritable who’s who of the locality. Over 70 kids from the National school will participate and will be joined by many parents and ex-pupils. Also helping out on the modelling front will be Gavin O’Mahoney, James Ryan (Limerick Hurlers) and local model former Miss Limerick Becky Costello from Kilmallock. Mairead Lavery (Editor of the Irish Country Living Magazine) and Stuart Taylor (manager of Limerick FC) will complete the modelling line-up. Floral displays on the night will be provided by Carolyn O’Neill of Tiger Lillies Wedding Décor and Floral Designs and Carolyn will also help us out with props and back drops for our fashion show. Music, sound and lights for the night are being supplied by local band NEVER THE LESS. The word is that they may play for a while after the fashion show. We have a special guest appearance on the night from Helen Norton (Vivienne from fair city). Helen is part of the main storyline in Fair City at the moment in renewing her wedding vows with Paddy. Helen has performed in numerous theatre, film &TV shows. Half time entertainment will be provided by Terence Andrews a magician from Limerick. Once again here we are indebted to Terence for obliging us on the night in providing entertainment for both young and old. As if that wasn’t enough there will be a Best Dressed Lady and Gent competition. There will be a raffle with sumptuous prizes and extensive entertainment! Furthermore, Shaw’s will present every ticket-holder that attends with a €5 voucher to be spent in-store when spending €30 or more. A special word of thanks to Shaw’s for this generous offer. This hopefully will be our second last fundraiser in completing the shortfall of our new and refurbished school. Our last fundraising event will be the school Christmas concert in December. With this in mind we encourage you to support our fashion show and show your appreciation to all our models and shops that are doing us a great favour on the night.

CHURCHGATE COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND: Sr. Consilio Fitzgerald of Cuan Mhuire, Bruree House will be holding her annual church gate collection in Knockainey and Lough Gur next weekend. TAEKWONDO:Master Byrne’s School of Cho’s Taekwondo are hosting a grading in Knockainey Community Centre on Sunday November 3 from 12pm - 2pm followed by a seminar at 2.30pm by Master John Darcy 7th Degree Black Belt and European Director of AIMAA Taekwondo. All are welcome
