Reilig Mhuire: The annual mass will be celebrated on Sunday, August 25, at Reilig Mhuire at 3pm. All grave owners are invited to attend. Grave owners are asked to attend to family graves prior to the mass.
Askeaton GAA: Memorial weekend will begin with mass for the deceased members in Askeaton church on Saturday, August 24 at 7pm. On Saturday, August 25, we will have our annual memorial day competitions and on that evening we will honour the Askeaton football team which won the 1972 county senior football championship.
Tennis club: Askeaton tennis club would like to thank those who attended our opening night on Wednesday, August 14. A special thanks to Cllr John Sheahan and Kevin Sheahan for attending the opening. Also to Margaret McKnight, and John Hurley, who without his hard work we would not have achieved our goal. Those interested in membership please contact a member of the committee. 5k fun run/ walk for cancer: Askeaton Sunday, September 15. Starts at 2pm at the Hall. Registration starts at 12 noon at the Hall. The fee is €10 for adults and is €5 for students and OAPs. This is an opportunity to get out with friends and neighbours and work mates while contributing to the fight against cancer. If you are not up to doing the walk, refreshments will be available at the Hall afterwards and we plan to have some entertainment also and it will be a chance to contribute to the fundraiser. This event is being organised by the local heroes group part of Askeaton/Ballysteen community council. Information is available from Noelle Dalton at 086-0812891.
