Mary Kennelly judged the poetry section. Well done to Kristine FitzGerald, Hamilton Tce., who won the adult poetry; Maurice Moore, Turraree won the U18 poetry; Anna Daly, Mill St., got 1st prize for the U12 poem. Carol Noonan judged the art. Julia Ryan won the Adult art competition while Tom and Ellie Healy, Ballyhahill won the U12 art. Well done to all.

The library continues to display lots of lovely work by local Glin artists as well as Carol Noonan’s art and craft.

The winning adult poem is as follows:

The Knight’s Walk

Shrouded in mystery yet content

To simply be part of the firmament.

Those who walk there must attest

The joy of Nature at its best.

Relax, enjoy unhurried stroll

Its silvan beauty soothes the soul.

Walk the loop, the circle of life

Binding generations, forging links

From knight to knight like the Shannon below

From day to day in constant flow.

One Knight’s present, though he be the last,

Connects our future with our past.

-Kristine FitzGerald
