Active Retirement: On Thursday morning of last week, a group of our active retired members set off for Dundrum Garden Centre. Our first stop was Dundrum Golf Hotel, where we enjoyed lovely tea and scones. After resting for a while, we boarded our bus again and headed for the garden centre. What a display of flowers and shrubs and containers of all shapes and sizes for same. After alot of walking around, we got and paid our bill. Our bus driver, Timmie, helped with our friend and only male passenger, Pat-Joe Vaughan loaded the goods onto the bus. We returned to the hotel again where we were served a lovely lunch. We relaxed for a few hours and then we headed home by Meanus. There we stopped near the home of Joan and Denis O’Connor. Joan’s mother was a native of Castletown, the late May O’Regan. R.I.P

Joan and Denis have a very entertaining place, for anyone who has a few hours to spare. A vintage, or as some people may call it, an antique store. You will find anything, from a needle to a tractor, lots of interesting pieces to see. Before we reached Ballyagran, we had a raffle for some nice prizes, I got from a very kind lady from the garden centre. The lucky winners were Eileen Gaffney, Pat-Joe Vaughan, Josie Donegan and Kathleen Gaynor. Thanks to Mary Cagney who organised the whole trip on her own. Thanks to our friendly, courteous driver Timmie. This Thursday there is music in Kilmallock, the last for this season.
