closing ceremony : On Friday 24th May, we had the closing ceremony for St. Joseph’s Secondary School. The Sisters of Mercy established the school in 1868 and down through the years they have provided quality education to generations of students. It was a truly emotional and nostalgic occasion as Archbishop Clifford celebrated the Mass of thanksgiving. Fr. Beatty preached the Homily and we had memorable sharings from Dr. John O’Brien-Chairman of the Board of Management, Sister Mercy O’Dea-former Principal, Ms. Anne Kelleher-Trustee CEIST, John Kinsella-Principal of St. Joseph’s and new Principal of Scoil Na Trionoide Naofa-Ms. Eilis Casey. The conclusion of the reflection summed up the occasion “let us bless and honour this place-St. Josephs-a place of faith and fellowship; of integrity and education; a place of dialogue and discourse; of meeting and memory; of joy and laughter; of security and growth, a place that shaped us irrevocably in the core values of Jesus Christ. Let us thank God for this good place-St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Doon”. Thanks to THE SISTERS OF MERCY, Doon for all that you have contributed in the field of education down through the years. Thanks to everybody involved in what was a truly memorable celebration.
