CHURCH NEWS: Minister of the Word is Katie Shiels for Saturday June 15 and Helen Meade for Sunday June 16. The Eucharistic Ministers are Sheila O’Hara and Kathleen Hayes for Saturday, Michael Keane and Eilis Griffín for Sunday.

ADAPT: ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services, Limerick will hold a church gate collection in County Limerick on Saturday June 15 and Sunday June 16 .

ADAPT is based in Limerick offers a wide range services to women survivors of domestic abuse and their children. ADAPT offers a one-to-one service in the community, for women experiencing domestic abuse, 24 hour Safe Refuge and 24 hour Freephone Helpline 1 800 200 504.

The annual Church gate collection is a vital source of funding to enable ADAPT to maintain the level of service for women and children and your support would be much appreciated. Volunteers who support the work of ADAPT are giving their time to help with the collection.

CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to Lisa McKnight, daughter of Nancy and the late Liam McKnight, Ballinamona who recently was the 2013 winner of the super garden as seen on RTE. Lisa also won a silver medal at the Bloom Festival. Wishing Lisa every success in the future.

GROW IT YOURSELF: Limerick West GIY with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food goes on the road for the next few months. First up is a visit to Bernie McEnery’s garden Moanwing in Rathkeale on Thursday June 20, with meeting time for the garden tour scheduled for 7pm This is a beautiful flower garden with a small vegetable part which is very stylishly designed. Wherever you look it holds your interest and is one not to be missed. Bernie is a well seasoned gardener and is always willing to share her knowledge. On Thursday 18th July we will then pay a visit to the garden of Rachel O’Grady, Askeaton, on Thursday 15th August the visit will be to the plot of Chris Enright, Morenane. More details on these in the coming weeks.

INTERNATIONAL GYMNASTICS: Congratulations to Louise and Orna Cantillon who competed last weekend in the International Competition in the Swiss Open in Acro-Gymnastics in Geneva. 200 countries took part in this competition and Orna’s team scored 18.4 to secure a gold medal, while Louise’s team consisting of herself, Emer Griffin Kildimo and Michaela Sheehan, Mallow scored 17.78 in the Women’s trio to secure 3rd place in the finals. Both girls started their gymnastics career with Pyramid Gymnastics in Foynes. Congratulations once again Girls, we are all very proud of your great achievement.

Pallaskenry Community Playground Committee: Clothes Recycling Drive in aid of a Community Playground. Clothes ,bags, shoes, belts, bedlinen, towels, soft toys, textiles, mobile phones, books accepted (no school books, magazines or diaries). COMMUNITY GAMES: We congratulate Orna Cantillon on winning gold and Louise Cantillon on winning bronze at the European Gymnastics Competition recently. Both sisters have been very actively involved with Kilcornan Community Games representing us on numerous occasions from an early age. Well done to both girls.
