BLOOMING TIDY TOWN: Adare is in full Bloom as it awaits judging for National Tidy Towns Competition and Limerick in Bloom Competition run by Limerick Co Council. Chairman Mike Brennan offers sincere thanks to all in the Community who have helped in preparing Adare’s entry for the 2013 competition, which is our 50th entry in National Tidy Towns. It is as vital today as when it was formed in1963. Recent years have thrown up new challenges in coping with unprecedented changes. It is great to see Adare looking so well in this historic year. Judging takes place over the next 6 weeks.

ADAPT DOMESTIC ABUSE SERVICES COLLECTION: ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services, Limerick will hold a church gate collection in County Limerick on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June. ADAPT is based in Limerick and offers a wide range services to women survivors of domestic abuse and their children. ADAPT offers a one-to-one service in the community, for women experiencing domestic abuse, 24 hour Safe Refuge and 24 hour Freephone Helpline 1 800 200 504. The annual Church gate collection is a vital source of funding to enable ADAPT to maintain the level of service for women and children and your support would be much appreciated. Volunteers who support the work of ADAPT are giving their time to help with the collection.

5-A-SIDE SOCCER: 5–a-side soccer is held every Thursday 8-9pm in the Manor fields, Adare. All players and levels welcome. If interested text Conor, 0872871436.

GARDEN FETE: The Annual Garden Fete will take place this Sunday June 16 starting at 12noon. Every household should by now have received an A4 flyer outlining what is required for the various stalls on the day and times they can be dropped off at the Village Hall during the coming week. Spare copies are available at the back of the church. Fresh home baking/produce, which is always in great demand, can be handed in on the morning of the Fete or by contacting Rose Brennan (087 1238590). Unwanted gifts or surplus Christmas presents would be very welcome as prizes for the Wheel of Fortune along with any bottles left over. Volunteers who are willing to work, before and during the Fete are still needed and most welcome. REMEMBRANCE MASS: There will be a Remembrance Mass in St. Nicholas Cemetery on Tuesday 22 July at 7.30pm. All are very welcome.

GARDEN PARTY AT ADARE MANOR: Adare Manor is hosting a special ‘Garden Party’ in the formal gardens on Sunday, June 30. The event promises to be one of the highlights of the Adare Weekend of Welcomes Festival taking place from June 27–30 in Adare Village. The Formal Gardens will be styled in a Victorian theme full of mirth and whimsy. Guests will enjoy Afternoon Tea on the lawn from Vintage China with Champagne, live entertainment, games of croquet and Historical Tours of the Manor House. Tickets are €30.00 per person and can be purchased from Adare Manor on 061 605200.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Starts on Wednesday 5 June and every Wednesday thereafter following the 10.00am Mass and continues up to 10.00pm. All are welcome.

ADARE COMMUNITY OFFICE: The Adare Community Office is now up and running and currently updating its data base of clubs and services in the village. Opening hours at present are 10am to 4pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. LIMERICK COUNTY A.A. MEETINGS:There is a closed meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A) in the C.B.S National School,Rathkeale Rd, Adare every Sunday night at 8:30 for anyone who might think they have a problem with alcohol or who need help to stop drinking. PARISH WEBSITE:www.adareparish.ie has news of the parish, schools, marriage information, etc. It is a very comprehensive website with a lot of local parish information. There will also be a virtual tour of the church upon completion of the restoration project.

ADARE MARKET: Adare County Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 2pm in front of the Village Hall. There are a wide variety of artisan, homemade goods for sale which including Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, Home Baking, Handknits, Handmade Greeting Cards and Jewellery, Free Range Eggs, Homemade Jams (Seasonal), Handmade Crafts including an Alterations Service. We look forward to seeing you there.
