PINK NIGHT: Wolfe Tones will host a Pink Night in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness on this Saturday night in the Goal Post Bar from 9pm.This is the second year the club are hosting the event following a very successful fundraiser last year.

The music on the night is by Atomic Chicken, and the organisers are planning loads of surprises. This promises to be a great event, not to be missed.

Wolfe Tones ladies have already begun collecting for the cause and raised €1,184.00 towards this event at Skycourt Centre last Thursday.

BASKETBALL: Shannon Phoenix Basketball Club, for ages 16 and upwards, takes place at the leisure centre each Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. New members are always welcome.

SET DANCING: St Senan’s Social Club hold set dancing classes in The Bellsfort Inn every Tuesday night commencing at 8.30p with tutor Mike Mahony. Everyone is welcome from beginners to advanced.

MEETING: The Shannon Bereavement Committee Meeting will take place at The Health Centre on Monday 21 October at 7.30pm.

CONFIRMATION: Children from St Conaire’s school preparing for Confirmation will take part in the 10am Mass on Mission Sunday 20 October. This is the first in a series of preparation Masses for candidates preparing for the sacrament.

POLICING: The Shannon Joint Policing Committee will hold a public meeting on Monday October 21 at 8pm in the Oakwood Arms Hotel. Members of the public are invited to attend and to make their views known or ask questions. The emphasis will be on general policing and crime prevention in Shannon. Please show your support

NOVENA: The fourth session of the Matt Talbot Novena will take place on Tuesday at 7pm in SS John & Paul Church. The speaker this week will be Rev. Bernie Costello, Chaplain Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe. Petitions can be left at the Shrine or sent on the online petition form of the Parish website.

CEMETERY SUNDAY: This annual blessing of the graves will l take place on Sunday 3 November at 2.30pm in Lemenagh Cemetery and at 4pm in Illaunmanagh Cemetery.

ELECTROQUIZ: ElectroQuiz Fundraiser in aid of St. Caimin’s Community School Library Fund. A fantastic night of entertainment is promised on Thursday 24 October at 7.30pm at the Oakwood Arms Hotel. Tickets €10 per person (6 per table). Cash and spot prizes. Sponsored by Shannon Credit Union and Sika Ireland. Tickets available from St. Caimin’s School and the Oakwood Hotel.

YOGA: There will be a free Fitness Yoga class on Saturday October 26 at 11am in the Leisure Centre. Fitness Yoga is a mixture of four disciplines (Hatha, Taoist and Power Yoga with a combination of Tai Chi movements).

HALLOWEEN CAMPS: The Leisure Centre will run a Camp for youngsters for four days from October 29 during the schools mid-term break.

SAOIRSE TREATMENT CENTRE: The Addiction Counselling Clinic is available every Friday in the Family Resource Centre, Rineanna View. Contact 085 8184590 for an appointment.

CELEBRATION NIGHT: A celebration night is planned for Wolfe Tones GAA Club on Friday November 15 beginning at 6pm.

Shannon supporters can celebrate the success of Clare’s Senior and Under 21 hurlers’ winning teams along with the achievements of Wolfe Tones underage hurling and Football Teams who contested County Finals in 2013.

All cups will be present in the Goalpost Bar on the night and the attendance will include players and management from Clare’s winning All Ireland teams.

There will be a presentation to players who represented Wolfe Tones in County finals this year, including U14 Football, U16 Hurling, Minor Hurling & Football team members. The club is currently organising a fundraising raffle to help to honour their successful underage teams and the tickets priced at €5 will be available shortly.

The club is hoping that all members and friends of Wolfe Tones will support this worthy event. The presentation of prizes in the raffle will also take place on the night. First Prize is a fully signed Clare Senior Hurling Jersey; second Prize is a 32” HD LCD Flat Screen TV and there will be lots of other great Prizes to be won. To Audrey O’Connor, Foyle Park & Mark Kinnane, The Grove, who were married in The Wells Church, Clonmoney. Both weddings took place last weekend. To Ciara Breen, Inis Ealga & Larry Bridges, Cronan Park who were married in SS John & Paul Church. To Brendan McCarthy, 7 Gort na Ri & Caitriona Wynne, Ennis, who were married in Ennis Cathedral. Both Weddings took place on Friday.

MONTHS MIND: The months mind mass for Bunty Meehan, Galway will be on Friday at 7pm in Ss John & Paul church. The 12 noon mass in Mary Immaculate Church Drumgeely on Saturday is for Peg O’Donnell, Drumgeely Avenue.

RECENT DEATHS: Sympathy to the family of Peter Kelly, 74 Rossbracken who was buried on Tuesday. To Don Ward, Gleann an Oir on the death of his brother Jimmy Ward, Belfast. May they rest in peace.
