ACTIVE RETIREMENT: The local Active Retirement Club held their AGM on Tuesday march 19 in the Hall, Ballyagran. Due to the cold weather it was short meeting. All of the officers were elected en block and we arranged the trip to Knock which is taking place in May. We hope to go on a cruise on the Shannon during the Summer, if we get one.

A trip to a garden centre is being arranged with, Ballyseedy Garden Centre or Duardruin. Anyone interested ring Joan Galvin at 063 81631 or Joan Cagney 063 82124 or any committee member.

We had our monthly social on Tuesday March 26. We had the usual game of Bingo. Winners included, Margaret Kelly, Kathleen Twoomey, Pat Keane, Hanna Costello, Anne O’Donnell, Kitty Sexton. Raffle winners included Hanna Gaffney. Eiley Gaffney, Biddy Vaughan, John O Connor, Nancy Hayes, Nellie Cagney, Peter Kenny, Margaret Kelly Mary Looby, Bridie Quinn, Kathleen Twomey, Margaret Garrinderk, Pat Keane.

The usual cup of tea and cake was enjoyed by all as was Michael O Mahonys music. The bus will travel to Kilmallock on Thursday April 11. Anyone needing a seat plase give your name to any committee member.

SYMPATHY: Sincere sympathy to the family of Joey O Brien, Castletown and Charleville , to his wife, sons, his parents Joe and Joanne, sisters, brother, aunts, uncle, cousins, relatives and extended family members and a wide circle of friends.

Remains were removed from O’Grady’s funeral parlour on Friday evening to Ballyagran Church afters prayers and service on Easter Saturday.

The death also took place of Davy O’Donnell, Ballyagran. Removal took place on Easter Saturday from his daughters residence to Ballyagran Church. Burial took place on Easter Sunday after 12 o clock Mass to Castletown cemetery. Davy is survived by daugther Elizabeth sons , Denis, David, and Edward, sisters, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and extended family, neighbours, friends, daughters in law Patricia and Teresa.

Also sympathy to David Cullinane, Castletown on the death of his brother Patrick.
