LADIES ON TRACTORS: A charity ladies’ tractor run in aid of Search and Rescue will take place on this coming Sunday, April 7 starting at 2-30 pm from Power’s of Abington. Sponsor cards from the ladies concerned are doing the rounds and it is hoped that this good cause will be well supported.

MURROE AFC: The under-16 girls had a brilliant 6-0 win over Regional this week with Grainne Regan and Shauna Ryan each scoring 2 and Lisa Leonard and Roisin O’ Mara also finding the net, in a victory that ensures at least a share of the league title with 1 match left.

The A team drew 0-0 with Hospital. The under-8 boys’ teams travelled to U.L for a series of blitz matches and competed well achieving some excellent results. Murroe AFC are about to recommence soccer for under-8 girls and are calling on girls born in 2005 and 2006 to join the club where girls from under-16 to under-10 are already playing and enjoying the game of soccer. BOHER MACRA: Boher Macra will be hosting a Charity Alternative Table-Quiz on Friday, April 12, in Hanley’s Pub, Boher at 8 pm. €20 per table of 4. All proceeds on the night will go to Cliona’s Foundation, who provides financial assistance for critically ill children. There will be raffle tickets on sale on the days leading up to the quiz and on the night. For more information on the quiz, contact Macra on bohermacra@gmail.com or on their Facebook page. 45 DRIVE: The winners of last week’s 45 Drive were: First prize of €80 went to Con Galligan & John Blackwell. Second prize of €70 went to Seamus Reynolds & Davy Humphreys and Peggy Lavelle & Mary Corcoran. Third prize of €60 went to Maureen & Tom Ryan and Bob & David Richardson and Kathleen Costelloe & Dan Shanahan. Table prizes were won by Paddy Owens & Eamonn Cooke and Liam Walsh & Jim.

MURROE-BOHER CAMOGIE CLUB: As part of the Camogie Féile fundraiser, the club is doing a clothing recycling drive where they accept Men’s, Women’s, Children’s Clothing, paired shoes, belts, handbags, bed linen and paired curtains. The next collection dates are Saturday, April 6 and Saturday, April 20, in the GAA Clubhouse, Murroe from 7 pm to 7.45 pm and The Community Hall in Boher from 8 pm to 8.45 pm. This is a great opportunity to clear the wardrobes and also help your local Camogie Club. If you have any queries contact Geraldine on 087-6722055.

FR. LIAM LAWTON CONCERT: On Sunday, April 21 at 8 pm, Caherconlish will have the honour of welcoming Fr. Liam Lawton as he performs in Concert in our Lady Mother of the Church, Caherconlish in Aid of Caherconlish/Caherline Parish Funds. Fr. Liam will be joined by local Adult and Youth Choirs under the direction of Valerie Walsh. This concert is being organised by the Parish Pastoral Council. For the past 20 years Fr. Liam he has been composing sacred and inspirational music. Fr. Liam has performed in venues including the Vatican, Carnegie Hall, the White House and the Eucharist Congress held in Dublin. His song Cloud’s Veil was adopted as an anthem across America following 9/11. CHURCH NEWS: A church gate collection in aid of the upkeep of the playground in Murroe will be held on this coming weekend. You are asked to remember that the Trocaire boxes may be handed in. The priests’ spring collection will be taken up on this coming weekend. Divine Mercy Sunday is on this coming Sunday, April 7, and the devotions and mass is in Murroe church begins at 2-45 pm. A bus will travel to Knock on Sunday, April 7 for Divine Mercy Day. As it leaves for Tipperary Town, it will have pick-up points at Monard, Oola, Pallasgreen, Dromkeen and Boher.
