Gerald Griffins Bord na nOg: Gerald Griffins Bord na nOg are having their awards evening on Sunday 27th January at 5.00 p.m. at the clubhouse. All players and families are asked to attend. There will be special mention for our U/16 Co. Champions with presentation of medals. Come and celebrate what has been a great and historic year.
Collection for Limerick Social Service Centre: The annual Diocesan collection for the Limerick social service centre took place in the churches in the diocese last weekend. Limerick social service council has been actively involved in responding to the social needs of Limerick people since 1967. The following services are provided by the social service centre – a variety of services for the elderly, a family welfare conference service, counselling service offering access to qualified counsellors and a crèche and preschool for lone parents.
New Bishop of Limerick: The diocese of Limerick has welcomed the new Bishop elect Fr. Brendan Leahy after his appointment by the Holy See. Fr. Leahy who will take up his appointment in the spring will succeed Donal Murray who retired December 2009. Fr. Mullins has served as Diocesan Administration for the past three years. Fr. Leahy is a renowned theologian and ecumenist with a wealth of pastoral experience including specific ministry to young people. He is presently professor of systematic theology at St. Patrick’s College in Maynooth.
The Witness: The witness will be presented in the LimeTree Theatre in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick on Friday and Saturday 8th. and 9th. March at 8.00 p.m. Tickets are €15.00 and are available from the ticket office on 061/774774. The witness is a musical by Carol and Jimmy Owens and is been staged just before Easter which is an ideal time for people to enter into the spirit of the season in preparation for the events of Holy Week.
Mass Times: the Vigil Mass in Loughill Church will be celebrated at 6.00 p.m. Saturday evenings. Daily Masses will be said at 9.00 a.m. in Ballyhahill Church starting this Wednesday morning 23rd January. Sunday morning Mass in Ballyhahill Church remains at 10.00 a.m.
