COUNTRY CONCERT: There will be a Country Concert at the Firgrove Hotel this Saturday night June lst. Country Star Dee Reilly who has strong connections in the nearby Rathcormac area will headline a very special concert under the banner Queens – Kings and Country Legends. The Show will also feature County Legends Gene Stuart, John Glenn, along with young gun Jason McGilligan. Caithlin Murtagh whose latest recording ‘This Life’ achieved the accolade of album of the year. Tickets for Queens-Kings & Country Legends are available at the Firgrove Hotel 025 24111 or at the door from 7.30pm on the night.

CBS OPENING: This Friday the CBS Primary School will have their extension officially opened by Junior Minister Sean Sherlock. Past pupils of the classes of 1950 are invited back to the school; between 12md and 1pm. At 11am the school Green Flag will be raised for water conservation with the launching of the 2013 school magazine. From the time the first pictures of students were taken in 1950 the school has undergone some amazing changes and now the school after 62 years now has a state of the art extension.

COFFEE MORNING: There will be a Coffee morning this Thursday May 30 at Tearmann Ui Chaoimh from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Your support would be appreciated for this very worthy cause.

WIN FOR ST. FANAHAN’S: St Fanahan’s Under 16 and a half footballers took the Cork Colleges VS football title at Ballinhassig on Tuesday last. They had 6 -10 to 3-7 win over Rossa College Skibbereen. The opening half was reasonably close with St Fanahan’s leading 2-3 to 1-2 after 20 minutes. Goals by Jack Norris and Killian Finn gave them a commanding lead at the break 4-3 to 1-2. It was again keenly contested in the second half with Skibbereen having an early goal. However there was no denying with two more goals that ran out victors by a 12 point margin. THE LATE CATHERINE ENGLISH : The death occurred on May 16 at Conna Nursing Home of Catherine (Cathy) English (Nee Lonergan). The late Cathy was predeceased by her husband Michael Francis English. Her popularity was borne out by the large and represented attendance at the removal from the Nursing Home to St Catherine’s Church Conna and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to Mitchelstown Church Cemetery. To her nephews Edmund, John, Gerard, Eamonn, Vincent, nieces Breda Mulcahy, Nuala O’Keeffe, Beatrice Walsh, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

THE LATE KATHLEEN O’CALLAGHAN : The death occurred on May 21 peacefully at Cork University Hospital of Kathleen O’Callaghan (Nee O’Brien) Mulberry Road Mitchelstown and formerly of Carhue, Kilbehenny. The late Kathleen was predeceased by her husband John. There was a very large attendance at the removal on Wednesday evening from O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home Kilbehenny to Anglesboro Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Thursday. Interment took place to the Church Grounds. To her daughters Mary (O’Shea) Kathleen (Mullins) Assumpta (Connolly) sons Pat, John and Maurice, sisters Bridie and Margaret, brothers Mossie, Bernie, John, Michael, Jimmy and Danny, grandchildren, daughters in law, sons in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
