Recent Deaths: Sympathy is extended to John Hughes, Longstone, on the death of his brother, Eddie, a former Garda-Sergeant, who resided in Celbridge, county Kildare.

The death has occurred of Mai Bourke, Knockordan, Lattin. She is survived by her sons Noel and Michael, daughter-in-law Carmel, grandchildren Kevin and Rachel, brother, sister, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Lattin, followed by burial in the local cemetery.

The death has also occurred in St. Anthony’s Nursing Home, Pallasgreen of Maureen Deere, (née Ryan L), wife of the late Patsy of Deerpark, Shronell, Tipperary. She is survived by her nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, her carer Eileen, relatives and friends. Following Requiem Mass in the Church of the Assumption, Lattin, burial took place in Doon Cemetery.

Soccer: Cullen A Team was defeated by 5 – 3 after extra-time away to Ballingarry in last Sunday week’s Paddy Purtill Cup quarter-final.. The B team, with goals from Chris Power, James Riordan and Marrtin Murphy, shared the points with Tipperary Town B Team. Last Sunday the A team again faced Ballingarry Albion in a Division One game and this time emerged victorious by 3 – 2. The B Team were, however, defeated away to Two-Mile-Borris by 2 -1. Next Sunday, the A Team will travel to Two-Mile-Borris for the Division One Shield semi-final, while the B Team will play St Kierans in the Division Four Shield final.

GAA News: Training Times for ladies football are as follows: Under 12/14 training Friday 6.30 to 7.45.Under 14/16 training Sunday at 12. New players always welcome for all ages. The Junior Ladies A.G.M was held last Friday night. Timmy Crotty remained on as Chairperson,with a new Secretary elected, Catriona Kenny. Best of luck to them for the coming year. Congrats to Mary Leahy and Paul Kelly on their recent Engagement.

At a recent meeting of Lattin-Cullen GAA Club, votes of sympathy were passed to the following: Morrissey Family Glenbane on the death of Jody, Condon Family, Shronell on the death of Liam, Ryan Family, Garrydoolis on the death of Christopher, Bourke Faily, Knockardon on the death of Mai, the relatives of Maureen Deere, Shronell, the Family of the late Michael O’Dwyer, Bohercrowe and Ballycohey, Mairead Maguire and Aileen Kiely on the death of their uncle and the Connery Family, Ballinmarsough on the death of Josie Harkins.

Lotto: The Lotto draw took place in Quinlans, Cullen on Monday 21/1/13 when the jackpot was €15,300. The numbers drawn were 4,12,22,23. There was no Winner. Lucky Dip winners: John Ryan, Ballyrobin, James O Donnell, Ballymarsough, Kieran Kelly, Cashel and Breda Doherty, Ardlamon. The Jackpot will roll over to €15,500 for the next draw on 28/1/13.

Obituary Error: The club would like to apologize for a clerical error made in omitting club stalwart Jimmy Breen RIP from the obituaries sent to the Tipperary GAA Yearbook 2012.

Monster 45 Drive: Fundraising for Knockainey National School continues on January 27 at the Community Centre with a monster 45 Drive.
