DROM FAIR AND VINTAGE RALLY: The Dromcollogher Fair and Vintage Rally will now take place on Sunday June 23rd. Due to continuous cutbacks in HSE funding the forth mentioned fundraiser will provide much need finance for the respite centre. The latter provides short term care for the elderly in Limerick, Cork, Clare and Tipperary and is run by a voluntary committee. The centre continues to collect all saleable items bric-a-brac etc for the many stalls. Also the major raffle continues and the draw will take place on the day of the fair.

RAMBLING HOUSE: This Thursday night May 30th a Rambling House will take place at the community centre Monagea. All are welcome to an evening of Ceol, Craic music song and story, so bigi ann.

VIGIL FOR LIFE: The National Vigil for Life are holding a vital gathering in Merrion Square Dublin on Saturday June 8th from 3-4pm. This vigil comes at a vital time with the government producing the actual legislation to legalise abortion in July. To organise a bus or find a bus in your area. RACE NIGHT: West Limerick 102fm are holding a fundraising night at Murphy’s bar in Abbeyfeale on Saturday June 8th to commence at 8pm. A horse can be purchased for €10 or a 50% share for €5. The tickets and the horses can be purchased at the radio station or any volunteer member or contact the station at 069-66200. It promises to be a fun evening for all.

SUE RYDER: Due to the recent spell of fine weather many a person are de-cluttering wardrobes, presses etc. All good saleable items are welcome in any Sue Ryder Charity Shop.

MILFORD HOSPICE: The 28th annual Milford Hospice Harvest Fair will take place on Sunday September 1st . This year the venue has moved to the U.L. Arena which is located within the campus of the University of Limerick a 10 minute walk from Milford Care Centre. Place the date in your diary an ideal family outing.

AFTERNOON TEA: The next afternoon tea dance in Monagea Hall takes place on this coming Sunday June 2nd. Music for the event by County Roads so don those dancing shoes.

CEILI: The final ceili at Halla Tadhg Gaelach Tournafulla before the Summer recess is scheduled for Friday 14th June from 9:30pm to 1am. Mr music man will be Johnny Reidy with tea and refreshments for all.

CHURCH AFFAIRS: The reader for Raheenagh Mass this Saturday evening is Mary Nolan with Eucharistic Ministers Maura Kenny and Willie Mulcahy and basket collector Murty Mulcahy.

The reader this Sunday morning for Ashford mass is Patricia McEnery Noonan with Eucharistic Minister Margaret Keating and Noreen Collins and basket collector Dave Noonan.

The mass server for Ashford church commencing their week this coming Sunday is Valerie Shanahan Gortnaclohy.

OPEN DAY: Glenquin Montessori School in Ashford will hold its open day on Wednesday June 19th from 10am to 12 noon. All with a view intending to use this excellent Montessori School in September are welcome to attend on this opening day.

VILLAGE INN: The card winners from Friday night’s social get together at The Village Inn were Oliver Cunningham Raheenagh and Martin Sheehan Newcastle West.

W.L. SET DANCING: The West Limerick set dancing club next session is scheduled for this coming Friday May 31st at the Courtney Lodge Hotel. Mr Johnny Reidy will take to the stage at 9pm and all are welcome to trot along and enjoy same.

ALL IRELAND NUN’S RACE: As part of the Gathering celebrations in Abbeyfeale July 15-21 the All Ireland nun’s race will commence at 8:00pm on Monday July 15th and travel from the Town Park into the Square. Organiser Shane O’Connell says ‘Keep the Faith and run the Race’ and tells us that the race will be followed by a world record attempt of most nuns doing the Harlem Shake! Entries welcome. KNOCK: The annual Pastoral Area Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine is scheduled for Sunday June 9th. The bus fare is €16 and all interested pilgrims are welcome to contact their local clergy before the above date.

CAR BOOT: The indoor Market and car boot sale for June is taking place on Sunday 9th. The venue is the Community Centre Newcastle West and doors open from 9 to 3pm and admission is €2. All proceeds from same go to the local community radio 102fm and further details from Marian on 087-6866450.

FAMILY PETS: As mentioned in these recently two small dogs are missing from their home in Toureenagreana a brown Jack Russell terrier and a white Bichon Frise. These are family pets and sadly missed by their owners. We thank all persons who have rang re their whereabouts but to date they have not been found. WL102fm LAUNCHES THE SEARCH FOR MISS WEST LIMEERICK 2013 : On the 5th of July in the Devon Inn at 8pm West Limerick 102fm are to host a night to crown the first Miss West Limerick 2013. In a night that will reflect all that is good about West Limerick young women it promises to be a night for the ages. “West Limerick 102fm celebrates life in West Limerick; nights like the Best of the West, the Country Music Awards, and now Miss West Limerick all aim to do just that” said Joe McGill Co-Manager at West Limerick 102fm. So how do you become the next Miss West Limerick? Well each contestant is entered on behalf of a business or community group at a cost of 70 euro. The contestants then are interviewed during the day of July 5th by a judging committee. They are then put through their paces again on stage with a brief chat and perhaps a party piece. Contestants will have to be from or living in the West Limerick area and be aged between 18-28 years of age up to July 5th. “Miss West Limerick will reflect the intelligence, compassion and independence of modern Irish women. CLUB DRAW: Killeedy G.A.A will once again be holding their annual Club Draw to commence on the weekend of 15th June. This is the clubs main fundraiser each year and is vital for the day to day running of the club. GET WELL WISHES: Killeedy G.A.A. would like to send our best wishes and a speedy recovery to Canon Willie Fitzmaurice following his recent illness and to any of our members who are recovering at present from illness.

SYMPATHY: Killeedy G.A.A would like to extend our sympathy to the family of former G.A.A. President Paddy Buggy who passed away recently. On Sunday May 13th 1984 he officially opened the club grounds Pairc Namoh Ide. May he rest in peace.
