SCRAP METAL: Tarbert National School Scrap Metal Collection takes place on Saturday January 26, 2013, between 1 and 4pm outside the school. Collection of large items can be arranged from your home on Thursday 24 or Friday 25 of January by calling Joe Langan on 0876677146 or Norman Parkinson on 0876309708. Cars, Metal cylinders, Old radiators, Gates, old iron baths, batteries etc or any other scrap iron/metal you want to get rid of. Nothing considered too big or too small. This is an important fundraising event for the school. Your support is very much appreciated.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place next Saturday January 26 in Tarbert Bridewell at 8:30pm. New members welcome and everyone invited to attend.

THE GATHERING: A Co-ordinating Group has been set up to organise the Gathering Festival for Tarbert and the following are key dates and events for your diary; (1) May Bank Holiday Cuckoo walking festival and celebration of 50 years of Tarbert National School; (2) Friday August 9 to Sunday August 18 inclusive gathering-family events, (3) December 31, New Year’s Eve Celebration and official closing of gathering 2013. Next meeting will take place on Tuesday February 5, at 8pm in the Community Centre. Anyone interested is asked to attend the meeting.

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK: Tarbert Development Association (TDA), extend an open invitation to a public consultation on the Draft Strategic Integrated Framework Plan (SIFP) for the Shannon Estuary which will take place at Tarbert Community Centre on Tuesday, January 29 from 4.30pm to 8.30pm. The strategic plan addresses the future development and management of marine-related industry and tourism along Ireland’s largest estuary. For more see www.shannonestuarysifp.ie

COMMUNITY HALL: Dancing in the Community Hall next Sunday January 27 from 3 to 5.30pm music provided Mike Condon. Admission €5 and refreshments served.

JACKPOT WINNER: Congratulations to Mark O’Brien on winning the Bingo Jackpot of €950 euro.

Bingo: continues every Wednesday night. Play starts at 8:30pm.

GENERAL MEETING: Tarbert Coiste na nOg football club will hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) this Saturday evening January 26 in the Community Centre at 8:15 pm. All parents and supporters are encouraged to attend. The Club held a very successful Quiz night in The Anchor over Christmas and are planning the next quiz night for early February. The North Kerry development squad training commenced last weekend for U-14/15 and 16’s where a number of Tarbert players were in attendance.

GAA LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw. The numbers drawn were; 6, 8, 17 and 22. Bar Prize winner Chris Normile. The Lucky Dip winners were; Helen Enright, P.J. Normile, Finbar Carrig, Mary and Ger Buckley. Next week’s draw will take place in Carmody’s Bar with a jackpot of €3,400. Thanks to all those who continue to support the Lotto.

GAMES POSTBONED: U-21 North Kerry Championship – Clounmacon/Moyvane/Tarbert rainbow team game semi-final game against Listowel was called off last weekend due to weather conditions. Game may be rescheduled for this weekend so please check Kerryman for fixtures.
