CHURCH NEWS: Eucharistic Ministers for Saturday Jan 26 are Ann O’Brien and Kathleen O’Carroll, Michael Keane and Eilish Griffin for Sunday 27th. Ministers of the Word are Edel O’Connell for Saturday and John O’Gorman for Sunday.
Kilcornan Annual Church Flowers collection will be held at Masses on this Saturday and Sunday January 26 / 27.
January 18 – 25 is a week dedicated to Prayer for Christian Unity.
On Friday February 1st we will celebrate the Feast of St. Bridget, and, as is customary we will make our way to the Well in Kilbreedy to pay our respects and do our rounds throughout the day. We are very grateful to the Shier and kelly families who have facilitated the visitors to the well for years. We would like to wish Darragh Kelly, wife Pamela and their children Aaron and Grace best wishes in Canada.
TAIZE:Taize is a small community on the east of France, not far from Cluny and Lyon. It’s a place of Pilgrimage all year round for thousands of young people from all over the world. People of all different faiths, cultures and levels of belief flock there. The Limerick Pastoral Centre is organising to bring a group of 40 young people to Taize in July of this year. The group will spend 4 days in Taize and 3 days in Paris and Euro-Disney. You must be over 18 to travel . Anyone interested in finding out more, please contact Fr. Terry 086-8103482.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL: We will be hosting a fashion show in the Woodlands House Hotel on February 28. kilcornan children who are interested in modelling for the show will require their parents / guardians consent before their names are entered into a draw for available places. SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY: The Community Council will host their traditional Annual Senior Citizens Party on next Sunday January 27 in the Community Centre. As usual it will begin with Mass in the Hall at 2pm. All our regular guests are invited and we hope to see some ‘’recently qualified’’ joining us on the day. Keep the date free to enjoy one of the highlights in our Parish. If you have not received your invitation please contact any member of the Committee of the Community Council.
ASTRA TURF: Work is expected to commence on the new astra turf pitch early in February. This is a major undertaking in the Parish by the Parish Development Committee and one that will benefit all the clubs locally and the surrounding area. West Limerick resources will finance a portion of the cost. In order to raise funds locally a large bank of topsoil is available for sale from the Committee. CHARITY SPONSORED RIDE: Stonehall Harriers in association with Share a Dream Foundation and Kilcornan Community Council will hold a charity sponsored ride on Sunday February 24. Meeting at the Coach Inn at 12 noon. The course will be through the ancient and beautiful countryside of Stonehall. Sponsorship cards are available on request. Rathkeale AND District Historical Society:The next meeting of the Rathkeale & District Historical Society will take place at 8.30pm on Friday 25th January at the Community Arts Centre Rathkeale. UPSKILLING IN BROADCASTING TRAINING: Those interested in becoming a volunteer broadcaster at West Limerick 102 Community Radio are now invited to take part in a dedicated 12 week training programme to develop the skills to produce and present high quality programming for the community station. Topics will include Role of Community Radio, Radio Presenting, Researching for Radio, The Role of the Producer, Technical Skills and News & Current Affairs. Course Free of Charge. FACILITATOR TRAINING: West Limerick Resources will be offering a part-time course for those interested in becoming a play and learning facilitator. The four month course will take place each Friday from 9.30am-12.30pm until the end of May in Newcastle West beginning February 1st. There will be an information session for interested participants this Friday January 19th at 11a.m. in the Newcastle West Community Centre.
