ANNIVERSARIES: On Sunday St Patrick’s Day at noon Mass, deceased members of the O’Dea family of Carheeny along with John and Maureen Sheehy of Kilcurley were commemorated. The noon Mass on Sunday March 24 will be in memory of Dan & Olivia O’Mahony and John Mann.

WHO’S FOR PENANCE: Fr John will lead a penitential walk on Saturday next March 23 at 11.00 am. The course begins and ends at the Seven Sisters and will traverse ten kilometres to St. Brigid’s Well, Kilcornan and return via Kett’s Cross. En route, stops will be made to pray and meditate on the Stations of the Cross.Suitable footwear & protective clothing is recommended.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Congratulations to the Under 14 Quiz Team of Inan Cullen, Sean Galvin, John McGuinness, Jamie Hickey, Rory Cullen and Aaron O’Donovan who won the honour of first place in the county recently in the Woodlands House Hotel. They are now in preparation to represent Co Limerick in the National Finals to be held in Athlone on 23/24 May. The second team of Mícheal Cuddihy, Ciaran Downes, Adam Collins, Conor O’Hara, Garry Sheehan and Eimear Hickey were unlucky in their choice of questions and their glory will follow on another occasion. Meanwhile Nives Carroll is grooming the Talent Group for their participation in the County Finals in Caherconlish and Askeaton. This talented group includes the Azzopardi’s Adela and Luisa, with Maggie Mulcair, Maeve Gloster and Rebecca Carroll. We wish all the participants an enjoyable and successful participation.

MICK HANLY: It is advised to purchase your tickets in advance for this forthcoming concert on March 24. €10 per ticket will ensure a good night’s entertainment and you can secure tickets at ‘The Seven Sisters’, the P.O. or from Mary Conway at 087 6521806.

DAFFODIL DAY: This annual fundraising day in aid of The Irish Cancer Society takes place this Friday March 22. Fresh daffodils, pins etc. will be available in the shops in the locality and local organisers including Kitty O’Shaughnessy & Mary O’Rourke are requesting your support.

BANTRACHT NA TUAITHE: Those interested in hairpin crochet are invited to a day of learning on Saturday next March 23 in Millennium Centre, located beside Raheen Church, commencing at 10.00 to 4.30pm.Cost is €10. Many thanks to all who supported very interesting Federation Gardening night in Adare recently also Oiche Gaelach organised by Timire Máire Walsh. An Oiche ar fad a bhí ann.

LIFELONG LEARNING WEEK: There are lots of free learning events to enjoy as the week progresses to its end on March 24. The free booklet of events will include learning how to think, to grow vegetables, to sew and to kickbox- all on Thursday March 21. On Friday you can choose from genealogy, holistic healthcare and table-tennis. Saturday offers an opportunity to celebrate the potato, learn about geocaching, CPR and the history of Adare on a guided walk by Tom Cassidy, Co Limerick’s ‘Conservation Officer’. There are lots of outdoor activities lined up for Sunday March 24, or you can stay indoors and ‘Stitch & Bitch’ from 2.00 to 5.00 pm in Limerick City Gallery of Art. GAA LOTTO: The draw on March 11 for a Jackpot of €2,400 resulted in numbers 3, 4, 7 & 28. No members predicted this combination so ‘Lucky Dips’ of €50 were drawn by John O’Brien, Dermot O’Callaghan, Garry Moran and Pat Casey.

THE GATHERING: A weekend full of events is planned on Friday 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August to welcome home family and friends to Kildimo to share in our heritage and culture. It is organised by the community organisations, clubs and businesses in the parish. The weekend will consist of Music, Barbeque, Shinty Game, Heritage Talks, Soccer and fun events and games for kids. Please inform friends & relatives living outside the area and overseas abroad. All are welcome.

CHARITY HORSE RIDE: Following the success of the inaugural event, Boskill Equestrian Trekking Centre in Caherconlish is holding their next fun ride/walk on Easter Sunday, March 31. Funds from the day will be channelled into local causes and sponsorship cards are available. Riders meeting at Boskill @ 1.00pm. Walkers meeting at Caherconlish Church @ 1.30pm or Inch St. Laurence @ 2.00pm. Walkers - Adults: 5 euro. Kids: free. Riders - Adults: 50 euro. Kids: 25 euro.
