IT was like travelling back in time as Shannon Airport’s Duty Free, the world’s first and oldest Duty Free, celebrated a new beginning. Neil Pakey, CEO of Shannon Group described it as a new era for Shannon Duty Free but also a way to celebrate its fantastic past. For me, it certainly brought back some great memories. I remember as a young model getting on the bus at the Union Cross and making my way to Shannon Duty Free to model for the thousands of American tourists who landed in Shannon, either passing through or coming to holiday in Ireland.
It was a great thrill to be part of the celebration of the relaunch of Shannon Duty Free and to also celebrate its fantastic past.
I ENJOYED a wonderful evening of fine dining, delicious wine and great company at the annual Winemakers dinner in the breath-taking Minstrel’s Gallery at Adare Manor Hotel.
Over 60 guests dined in style at a banquet-style long table lit only by candlelight and twinkling chandeliers.
All the guests were spoiled with six superb tasting courses and specially selected accompanying wines for each course.
Christophe Salin from Château Lafite winery gave a passionate introduction to each wine which both informed and entertained diners.
With good friends and great food, many wonderful memories were made and we all left looking forward to returning for next year’s Winemakers dinner.
