WAXATHON SUCCESS: The organisers of the Waxathon at Wolfe Tones came within a whisker of reaching the target set for the adult players’ training fund on Saturday night.

Despite the heavy rain, which again caused the cancellation of the winter hurling league, members turned out in strength to see many of the adult players divested of leg and chest hair, courtesy of Rachel McIntyre, owner of the Beauty Rooms and staff member Laura Gough.

And the organisers were delighted with the support and feel they might reach their €2,000 target when all the sponsorship is tallied.

The first round of the Winter Hurling League, weather permitting, is once again scheduled for next Saturday evening with the first of two games set for 6.30.
