Church gate collection: The annual church gate collection in aid of Milford Hospice Limerick will be taken up before all Masses in Kilfinane this coming Saturday and Sunday. A little helps a lot.

MASS FROM KILFINANE TRANSMITTED IN FINLAND : On Vocations Sunday 20 October last the Sunday morning Mass from St Andrew’s Church which is transmitted to houses in the parish for the housebound was received by a family in Finland, the person that got the Mass on his radio, spent the past three months trying to establish where the Mass was celebrated and by listening to the various parts of the Mass he was able to establish, the Church was St. Andrew’s in Ireland and after a painstaking process of elimination he established the Mass was transmitted from St. Andrew’s Church Kilfinane in Limerick, he sent a letter and the CD of the Mass to the local Parish Priest Fr. Michael Hanley recently in which he explained how the scientific research showed how the transmission reached his home and this was relayed to congregation at the weekend Masses last weekend. Fr Hanley has replied as requested and also sent An Irish Blessing to the Finish Family.

SINCERE SYMPATHY : Sincere Sympathy is extended to Patricia Green and family (Mountain View) on the death of her father Eddie Conway,Kilmallock who died on Wednesday last 29 January and was laid to rest on Saturday 1 February in his beloved Kilmallock. (May He Rest in Peace).

OFF TO A FLYER: Over the past weekend there was huge local interest in the National Coursing Meeting Powerstown Park in Clonmel where the local dog Vale View Flyer owned by a local If the Truth be Told Syndicate, was in action in the Derby, in very inclement weather conditions an opening day win on Saturday gave the dog a place in the last 32, while on Sunday with the weather more favourable there where two more victories after a re run of his second race were recorded much to the delight of his large following to ensure a place in the last eight on Monday. However early on Monday morning it was learned that Vale View Flyer had to be withdrawn because of medical condition. Many local Coursing enthusiasts made the annual trip to Clonmel for the three day event which this year had very much local interest.

CANAVOUR PLAYERS CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND: After a very successful opening weekend last week The Canavour Players will continue their production of ‘It’s The Real McCoy’. A comedy by Tommy Marren at Ballinvreena Community Hall each night until this Sunday February 9 at 8:30pm sharp. Admission is €8. See you at the show.
