MINOR HURLERS WIN COMPLETE HISTORIC DOUBLE: Last Sunday afternoon at Mungret, Pallasgreen Minor hurling team wrote themselves into the annals of the club when they defeated a gallant Murroe-Boher side in a replay to complete the A County Minor hurling/ football championship titles.

A poor start had Pallas in playing catch up as the Murroe-Boher side dominated proceedings. A David Hannon point from play and four frees from Alan Cosgrave kept Pallas in touch at the break 0-5 to 0-9.

The second half had just barely begun and two frees from Colin Ryan and Alan Cosgrave left two points in it, Then the game turned on its head when a Brian Fanning shot was parried by the Murroe goalkeeper and Joe Keogh pounced for a goal for Pallas to take the lead for the first time, a lead they never relinquished.

Another Colin Ryan free put Pallas further ahead, Murroe hit back with two points and the game was now all square.

Two frees from Alan Cosgrave and a superb goal by Brian Fanning after great work from his brother Darragh has Pallas in the driving seat 2-10 to 0-11.

A pointed 65 by Colin Ryan and another wonder goal by Brian Fanning after again tremendous work from his brother Darragh had Pallas almost over the finishing line with a 3-11 to 0-11 lead.

Murroe had a point from a free and then Brian Fanning completed his hat trick with a superb goal following a tremendous run by David Hannon,

Hannon had Pallas’s last score with a great point from play with time almost up. In injury time Murroe had two consolation goals but it wasn’t enough and Pallasgreen took the hounours after 120 minutes of pulsating hurling on a scoreline of 4-12 to 2-12. The win completed a historic Minor double for the club after defeating St Senan’s/Ballysteen in the football decider earlier in the month. Well done to all involved in creating a historic outcome and what was two cracking contests between two fine sides. The final act of this thrilling contest was left to Michael O’Riain of the Limerick Co Board to Present the cup to Captain Darragh Fanning.
