AFRICAN STREET CHILDRENS PROJECT FUNDRAISER CRAFT NIGHT: Last Friday evening, November 22 a Craft Fair was held in Nats Cafe in Kilmallock. Imelda O’Riordan would like to thank everyone that came. One hundred percent of the money raised is for the African Street Childrens Project and Imelda is delighted and would like to extend a very big thank you as due to your generosity an amazing figure of €1400 was raised. Once again thank you all for the support.

CRUMLIN FUNDRAISER: The organisers of the recent fundraising dance held in Bulgaden Castle Lounge in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin would like to thank all who helped in making it a great success. The net profit on the night came to € 4375. and a cheque will shortly be on its way to the hospital. This figure means that  with your wonderful help we have donated in excess of € 40,000 towards the new cardiac unit  which was  very recently opened so once again from the bottom of hearts Thank You.

KILMALLOCK CREDIT UNION: Kilmallock Credit Union are delighted to announce the prizewinners in this year’s Credit Union Art Competition with the theme ‘Gotta Lotta Colour’. The entries were judged by internationally renowned artist Robert Ryan of Lough Gur who also teachess art classes in Friar’s Gate. Kilmallock Credit Union would like to thank Robert for his time and are delighted to have such a wonderful artist available to judge the local budding artists. The standard of entry was very high and we would like to thank all the entrants who participated. The prize giving took place on Monday night last November 25 so a massive well done to all.

FRIAR’S GATE THEATRE: The Mid-Night Cowboy with Pius McGrath. A young man reflects on his life, recalling the outrageous experiences that have moulded the man he has become.On Friday November 22 @ 8pm, actor Pius McGrath gives us an insight into what it means to be a male conforming to the norms of society, where characteristics of honour, loyalty and courage can fall to the wayside in favour of meaningless sex and bad male role models.

SOUTHSIDE WHEELY WHEELERS: Southside Wheely Wheelers training continued this week on Wednesday evening in weather that would put the fear of god into brass monkeys. We were out on our usual spin and not even a mini ESB strike for one cyclist deterred our group of brave cyclists from getting a few kilometres into those legs. Out cycling were Paula Cleary , Jerry Herbert, Jerry Reidy, Mike Sexton, Paul Gammell and Declan McCarthy.

Sean Burchill and Gerry Ryan reliable as ever were there on Saturday to lead the beginner/improver cycle.

Sunday training took place in foggy conditions , we cycled to Charleville, Newtown, Milford, Dromcolligher, NCW, Bruff Line, rourkes cross, and back to Kilmallock. Out cycling were James McCarthy, Dave Walsh, Brendan Houlihan, Mathew Gammell, Jerry Reidy, Martin Lake, Pat O’Donnell, Declan McCarthy, Eugene Manton and Mark O’Sullivan.

Training continues this week weather permitting with our Wednesday night light cycle at 6.30. Hi viz gear and lights are a must. Saturday @ 9.30 is our all levels beginner/improver cycle. Sunday @ 8.30 is our longer cycle but is a great way to push on the distance at this time of year.

Next Saturday is the Johnny Walsh cycle in Athlacca , cycle is going to be a flat controlled pace and the cycle departs from Athlacca at 9am.

Club gear collection night took place on the Tuesday November 26 in Deebert house, anyone who was not able to make it can contact Michael Gammell or Jonathan Moloney. Be safe be seen.

PASTORAL CENTRE CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Our annual Christmas Bazaar, including a visit from Santa, takes place on Sunday December 1 from 1.00 – 4.30pm. You have always supported us with your generous contributions, bric-a-brac, books, jewellery, cakes, puddings etc. We do not require used toys or clothing. Raffle tickets are currently for sale at the Centre and from many of our supporters. First prize €500.00. Gifts for the Wheel of Fortune will be gratefully received. Please note that the Pastoral Centre will be open to accept all contributions on Saturday November 30 from 11.00am to 5pm. Enquiries: 063- 98131

KILMALLOCK PASTORAL & RESOURCE CENTRE: Citizens Information Centre is open every Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between the hours of 10am and 2pm, please note on Fridays until 1.30pm. Thursday November 28 is the Citizens Financial night between 8 and 9pm.

The Active age Club continues this Thursday November 28 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, all are very welcome. The Bridge Club continues also tonight November 28 from 7pm until 10.30pm, all welcome.

Parent and Toddler group meet on Friday November 29 between 10.30 and 12.30pm and between 1pm and 4.30pm the centre is opened in preparation for the Christmas Bazaar.

Saturday November 30 the centre will remain open from 11am to 5pm where people can drop any donations towards the Christmas Bazaar. Sunday December 1, Christmas Bazaar will run from 1pm to 4.30pm.

On Monday December 2 the Counselling Service is in operation between 10am and 4.30pm.

The Tuesday Club meet on December 3 between 10.30am to 12 noon and on Tuesday December 3 the Blood Donor Clinic will be present from 6pm to 11pm and once again on Wednesday December 4 between 6pm and 11pm. For more details please contact the Pastoral & Resource Centre on (063) 98131.
