QUIZ NIGHT: Hazelwood College Quiz night this Thursday night November 28 at the college to commence at 8pm. Tables of four with tickets €5 per person on the door. The questions are to suit all ages with cash prizes for the winners and many raffle prizes to be won. LOTTO: St Ita’s Field Development lotto results from Thursday November 21st with numbers drawn 22, 28, 30 and 32 and there was no jackpot or match three winner. The four €30 lucky dip winners were: Martin Murphy, seller John Lane; Noreen Relihan, seller Joanne Relihan; Sinead Bucke, seller Padraig Sheehan; Breda Roche, seller Willie O’Brien.

This week’s draw takes place this Thursday night in The pub Raheenagh for a jackpot of €8,200. The soccer committee express thanks for the continued support.

CHURCH AFFAIRS: The reader for Ashford Mass this Saturday evening is Michael Begley with Eucharistic Ministers Sean Cunningham and Breda Begley and basket collector Murty Mulcahy.

The reader for Raheenagh Mass this coming Sunday morn is Denise Forde with Eucharistic Minister Ann Fitzmaurice and Mary Cunningham with basket collector Aidan Forde.

The Mass server for Ashford church the coming week is T.J. Kelly.

The Apostolate of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration continues on Fridays in Ashford church.

The year of Faith concluded on Sunday last November 24th.

LIGHTS FOR CHARITY: All are welcome to call and view the spectacular lights at Tony Noonan’s home in Templeglantine. All donations are welcome but not a requirement. The lights will remain until January 12 and all proceeds from same, Tony and family will donate to local charities.

DANCING CLUB: The West Limerick set dancing club are hosting their Christmas party on Saturday December 21 at the GAA clubhouse Abbeyfeale. Music by Donie Nolan and proceedings will waltz off at 9pm.

SOCIAL CARDS: The winners from Friday night’s card game at The Village Inn were Johnny Lane Darrira, Willie O’Brien Ballintubber with Martin Sheehan Newcastle West and Oliver Cunningham Raheenagh. All are welcome to gamble along this Friday night for a lively card game.

CALENDAR: On sale at Keating’s Raheenagh is the Mullaghareirk walking trails calendar, a gem to buy and cherish forever. Each month is depicted by a beautiful photograph from Ashford or Broadford walking trails. It is an ideal Christmas present for any family member.

ANNUAL CARD GAME: The annual €2,000 card game held in the Hall Raheenagh was a tremendous success with 37 tables. The Hall committee express thanks to fellow correspondents for advertising same.

Also thanks to Mary Anglim and her kitchen staff for the tea and sandwiches. A thank you to John Nelligan and his crew for supervision of the car park. A special word of thanks to J.J. Nolan for supplying the boiler on the night. John McGrath and his men had the hall in readiness for the event.

Many donated spot prizes with more purchasing the admission ticket knowing they could not attend on the night. A special raffle took place for these non attendees. A note of thanks to all who attended and all ticket sellers. All had a wonderful night and enjoyed the home baking and refreshments.

Finally great credit is attributed to Willie O’Brien and the Hall committee for organising this annual event and all proceeds to the Hall.

BEREAVEMENT: The death has taken place of Stephen Larkin Moanrue and is survived by his wife Bernie, sons and daughters and sister Joan, numerous relatives and friends R.I.P. May the peace of heaven be his.

CHRISTMAS MARKET: The Christmas Market will take place in Halla Tadhg Gaelach in Tournafulla on this Sunday December 1, beginning at 1:30pm. Last year over 800 people attended this event. We will have all the usual stalls with plenty of local produce, artisan foods, handcrafts etc. Santa Claus will be there and all are welcome.

REMEMBRANCE MASS: On Friday night last the annual Remembrance Mass took place in Ashford church celebrated by Fr. John Keating for all who died within the last year. A family member took the lighted candle to the altar in their memory. All the following were prayed for Gerard Kelly 20-12-2012, Kitty Clifton March 1, Eileen Mullane March 16, James Kelly June 23, Lilly Hallinan July 10, Michael Colbert July 23 and Mary Brigid Foley August 31. May all rest in heavenly peace.

WEDDING BELLS: The beautiful wedding took place on Saturday November 16 at 1:30pm in St Itas church Ashford of Brigid Sheehan eldest daughter of Pat and Eilish Sheahan to George O’Callaghan son of the late Josephine and Laurence.

The celebrants were Fr. John Keating and Canon Eoin Mangan with music and singing by Maura Nolan. The bride Brigid had as bridesmaids Eileen Sheahan and Irene O’Keeffe.

The groom George’s bestman was Maurice O’Callaghan with groomsman Benny Brosnan. The flowergirl was Lauren Collins and Daniel Collins as pageboy, all made a beautiful group. The first reading was by Sinead Bucke and Martina O’Callaghan read the second reading.

The prayers of the faithful were read by Padraig, Maria, Siobhan, Sharon and Mairead family and friends. The gifts were brought to the altar by Eilish and Lorraine. The communion reflection was read by Noreen O’Callaghan. The beautiful ceremony over Brigid and George as man and wife with family and friends journey to the reception held at the Devon Inn Hotel Templeglantine.

All celebrated the evening in true spirit and style. Congrats to Brigid and George and man and wife may they never know strife.
