Foynes & District Community Council Pride Of Place: We got a lovely letter from Limerick City and County Council this week thanking us the community for representing Limerick in the Pride Of Place Competition.
“Regardless of the ultimate outcome in the competition the Foynes entry has been a tremendous triumph and reflects very positively on the residents of the area and what can be achieved when leaders emerge in the community and play their part.You have represented Limerick in an exemplary fashion.”

Bosco Tea Party: , October 11 at Salesian Secondary College, Pallaskenry: Our Parents Association is organising a Bosco Tea Party at our school on Friday October 11 in the school hall at 8pm. A table of 8 costs €100. The host invites their guests to attend. They and/or their guests bring their own food, drinks, cutlery, glasses and we will provide tables, the atmosphere and live music entertainment with the Mad Hatters and DJ Nash. A great night is guaranteed to be had by all.

ORAL HISTORY TRAINING: West Limerick Resources will be running an Oral History Recording Training Initiative this autumn. Training will consist of two elements. Participants will develop Oral History Interviewing techniques as well as examine the legal and ethical issues relevant to gathering Oral History. The second element of the training will focus on digital voice recording and editing techniques. Training will also explore how oral history can contribute to the local heritage of communities and identify suitable ways of showcasing their research. Training is expected to begin in October and to run one evening per week for 10 weeks. The course is free of charge and open to people living in the West Limerick area. Pleasure Trip To Westport: We are going ahead with our short break in September to Westport and other parts of Mayo and surrounding areas. Ploughing Championship: The annual Ploughing Championship will take place from Tuesday September 24 to Friday September 27 in Stradbally Co.Laois. One of the last major outdoor events before the evening’s close and always a very popular event in the rural calendar.
Duathlon: St.Senans GAA in association with Walk of Life are organising a Duathlon, a cycle and 5km run and 5km run/walk on Saturday 21st September in aid of Milford Hospice.
