Dancing Classes: Dancing classes continue every Monday night in the hall in Ballyhahill from 9.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m. This is always a great night where people get an opportunity to learn Ballroom dancing, the waltz, quickstep, foxtrot and many more steps. Practice Whist Drive: There is a practice whist drive in the resource centre in Loughill every Sunday night at 8.30 p.m. Anyone who wants to learn how to play whist or anyone who wants a refresher course can come along. Our usual whist drives will be starting back every Sunday night at the end of the month.

Knockdown Vintage and Killeaney AFC: Killeaney AFC in conjunction with Knockdown Vintage Club is hosting a “Fun For All” day at Killeaney AFC grounds this Sunday 22nd. September at 12.00 noon. Vintage display to include tractor build, working threshing machine, farrier demo, digger challenge, barbeque, home baking, kids barrel train, sheaf throwing, bubble soccer, novelty sports, bouncing castles, glamorous granny, bonny baby, farmers market etc. Live music afterwards in The Knockdown Arms with The Wild Rovers. Toastmasters: The next meeting of West Limerick Toastmasters will take place Wednesday night next September 18th. at the Desmond Complex from 8.30 p.m. – 10.30 p.m. If your priorities include learning, communication and leadership skills at your own pace, developing self confidence and making new friends then Toastmasters could be for you. Adare to Survive: Adare to Survive is a 7.5km military style obstacle course taking place in Clonshire Equestrian Centre Adare on Sunday September 29. Cliona’s Foundation which provides financial assistance to the families of critically ill children is the charity partner and participants are invited to endeavour |endure |enjoy a unique physical and mental challenge, individually or part of a four person team, to raise funds for a charity or club of their choice. Trip to Swiss Cottage: Knockfierna Heritage Society will hold their annual outing to Cahir Castle, The Swiss Cottage, Rock of Cashel, and Holy Cross Abbey on Sunday, September 29. Previous outings have proved to be most enjoyable occasions. Philip Lynch of Kilkenny will be tour guide for the day. Oral History Initiative: West Limerick Resources will be running an Oral History Training Initiative this autumn. Training will consist of two elements. Participants will develop Oral History Interviewing techniques as well as examine the legal and ethical issues relevant to gathering Oral History. The second element of the training will focus on digital voice recording and editing techniques. Training will also explore how oral history can contribute to the local heritage of communities and identify suitable ways of showcasing their research. Training is expected to begin in October and to run one evening per week for 10 weeks. The course is free of charge and open to people living in the West Limerick area.
