Meanwhile, Lattin Tidy Towns Committee would like to thank everyone who helped and supported all the work which went in to improving the overall appearance of the village during the past year. Their efforts have resulted in an increase of four marks in the 2013 National Tidy Towns competition and it is hoped that this trend can be maintained in the years ahead.

Soccer: An injury hit A team drew three-all away to Two Mile Borris in last Sunday’s Division One League match. John Russell opened the scoring in the first half from a free kick and Davy Ryan was also on target from a header. The teams were level at the break, but Alan Hayes restored Cullen’s lead from the penalty spot, but Borris got a deserved share of the points also from a penalty late in the game. The A Team have been drawn against newcomers, Suirside, in the second round of the Munster Junior Cup. The B Team were defeated by Dualla in a League Division Four match at Aisling Park. On the mark for the home team was Ciarán Ryan. The same team will provide the opposition in next Sunday’s Shield semi-final in Dualla.

GAA News: The club would like to extend its sympathy to Joan O’ Donoghue on the death of her uncle Jimmy O’ Dwyer, Drangan, Eileen O’ Dwyer on the death of her brother Christy O’ Brien, the O’ Connor family Ballinalard on the death of Tom and to the Mulhall family on the untimely passing of Dermot Mulhall.

Jubilee Gathering: A special occasion in association with the nationwide ‘Gathering’ festivities, will take place on October 19, when the Lattin/Sologhead combination of 1963 will be commemorated at a dinner dance in Ballykisteen Hotel. The majority of players from that era will attend what promises to be a very special occasion. Tickets, available at €25, include dinner at 8.30pm followed by music with the Glenside Ramblers. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member. This is sure to be a great night of fun, memories, stories, dancing and laughter, so get yourself there!

Lotto Winner: Huge congratulations to Mike Nash, Shronell who scooped the Lotto jackpot of €18,000 at last Mondays draw. The golden numbers were: 3, 8, 11, 14. Well done Mike and Betty. The jackpot now begins at €5,700, not to be sniffed at either.

Ladies Football: The Under 14 girls had a great day out playing a blitz in Fermoy last Saturday. The girls lost their first game, but won the next four to win the B competition. Thanks to Joe and Olivia. The Junior Ladies received a walkover last Saturday so go through to a County Plate Final against Emly next Saturday. No time or venue yet confirmed.
