Tidy Towns: In the latest Tidy Towns adjudication , Cappamore improved its position by 24 marks (12%) from last year’s marking. We are making progress of which the adjudicator was very complimentary. Scoil Chaitríona was noted for its six Green flags and its Fairtrade inititive. The business premises on Main st. also caught the judges eye . The terraced houses opposite old creamery were very attractive and luckily on the day the Bottle Bank was tidy except for some pieces of cardboard lying about. The old creamery chimney was mentioned as being a focal point that could be cleaned up a little and maybe the title could be re-painted. But the jewel in the crown this time around was the fantastic development that has taken place in the estates this year. The surface of the streets in some areas could be improved and some road signs dirty.
We, the Tidy Towns Committee , were delighted with these results , but it could not happen without the great help which we received from the community. People painted their houses, put up flower baskets and some gave that little bit extra by watering flowers which we planted near road signs and cutting grass along the roadside. We all like to live in a clean tidy place and every little bit helps with that aim in view. The full results and full report can be viewed on the tidy towns website. Within the next week a copy of these will be on view at Library, Daycare Centre, Community House Mullally Lawn and in Scoil Chaitríona.
