FASHION EVENT: Dromcollogher Respite Care Centre are hosting a fundraising event from my wardrobe to yours. The event is scheduled for Friday November 1st at 8pm in the Day Care Centre Dromcollogher. The organisers require any items from your wardrobe new or nearly new that you know deep down you will never wear again. The night will commence with a mini fashion show and then all clothes are on sale and no item of clothing will cost more than €30. Tickets cost €10 and includes a glass of champagne on admission, a free raffle on the door ticket and finger food. On the night advice on make up and hairstyles will also be available from local beauticians and hair stylists. All clothes may be dropped at the centre and further information all are welcome to contact 063-83934.

KNOCKFIERNA: Knockfierna Heritage Society annual outing takes place to Cahir Castle, the Swiss Cottage, Rock of Cashel and Holy Cross Abbey on Sunday September 29th. BLACKHILL ORGANIC FARM: Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (formerly County Limerick VEC) are now enrolling for FETAC 3 Grow Your Own Fruit courses in West Limerick. Both courses will take place in Ardagh on Blackhill Organic Farm and run one day per week from September 2013 to June 2014. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn how to grow a wide range of delicious foods using organic methods with an emphasis on practical skills and an opportunity to gain certification. PLOUGHING: The annual ploughing championships will take place on Tuesday September 24th to Friday September 27th in Stradbally Co. Laois. One of the last major outdoor events before the evening’s close so pack the rain coat and wellies.

DANCING WEEKEND: October 18th to 21st October in Bundoran where John Hogan is hosting a special Country Jamboree with a host of top class entertainers. AFTERNOON TEA DANCING: The next Afternoon Tea Dancing is on Sunday 6th October, dancing from 3pm to 6pm in Monagea Parish Hall.

WEST LIMERICK RADIO: The AGM of West Limerick Community Radio will be held on Tuesday 24th September at 8pm in the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West. All are welcome.

CHURCH AFFAIRS: The reader for Raheenagh Mass this Saturday evening is Michael Begley with Eucharistic Ministers Maura Kenny and Willie Mulcahy and basket collector Sean Barry.

The reader for Mass in Ashford on Sunday morning is Helen Dagnall with Eucharistic Minister Margaret Keating and Noreen Collins and basket collector Patsy Cunningham.

The mass server for Ashford to commence her week this Sunday is Valerie Shanahan Gortnaclohy.

Well done to Colm McMahon for his dedication and excellence as an altar server for Ashford Church. Best wishes Colm now a student in Hazelwood College in Dromcollogher.

SET DANCING: Adult set dancing classes will resume in Monagea Community Centre on Thursday nights at 8:30pm. Both beginner and advanced catered for, it’s great exercise and good fun so come along and join us, you’ll be very welcome, no partner necessary.

WEST LIMERICK SET DANCING CLUB: The West Limerick Set Dancing Club will hold a ceili at the Devon Inn Hotel, Templeglantine on Sunday October 6th at 4pm with music by Star of Munster and all are welcome to waltz along.

WALK OF LIFE: A Walk of Life fundraising drive in aid of Milford Hospice is scheduled to take place on Saturday October 19th.

CAR BOOT SALE: The monthly fundraising Car Boot Sale and Indoor Market in aid of WL102fm will take place Sunday September 29th at the Community Centre Newcastle West (beside the GAA pitch). Gates will open at 7:30am. Further information 069/66200.

COMMUNITY ALERT: Killeedy Community Alert Committee would like to thank most sincerely everyone who supported their recent church gate collection. The amount raised was €511.

CONGRATULATIONS: A hearty congratulations to 5 year old Ian Kenny son of Oliver and Pauline Cloncon Ashford on his numerous cups, plaques and medals all winnings for Irish dancing at the recent Feiseanna. Ian is a pupil of Seamus O’Rourke and John Sanders of the Sanders School of dancing Limerick.

EXAMS: A hearty congratulations to all Killeedy students on receiving excellent results in their Junior Cert exams. Keep up the good work.

CARDS: The card winners from Friday nights social game at The Village Inn Ashford were Oliver Cunningham Raheenagh and Martin Sheehan Newcastle West. Second to Martin Stokes Glenduff and Tim Burke Broadford. All are welcome to this homely game on Friday nights.

LOTTO: St Ita’s Field Development Lotto results from September 12th with numbers drawn 11, 15, 18 and 19 and there was no jackpot winner drawn. The match three for €75 was won by Judy Hennessy with seller Phil Casey. The four €30 lucky dip winners were Mikie Barry seller Willie O’Brien, Thomas Dore seller Joanne Relihan, Margaret Greaney seller Joanne Relihan, Evelyn Scanlon seller Joanne Relihan. 60 COMMEMORATIVE MASS: This year being the 60th anniversary of work commencing in the Forestry in 1953 a mass is planned to commemorate and honour the deceased ex workers and present workers. This Mass will take place on Sunday October 13th at 3pm in Dromdeveen on the lake road. The route will be sign posted from nearby villages. Light refreshments for all afterwards.
