RETIREMENT PARTY: A retirement party will be held in the Knocklong Community Hall on Thursday July 11 for John Tobin. All are welcome on the night. We hope to see a lot of former workers as well as clubs, community and associations who have worked with John over the past 20 years. The Knocklong Community Newsletter will be available in shops and businesses from next weekend. It has details on the official hall opening and the Gathering festival in the end of August as well as info on the ‘Start Your own Business’ programme planned for Knocklong.
GATHERING: Knocklong will celebrate a Gathering weekend from August 23 to 25 this year. On Friday night we will have the official re-opening of the hall with special guest John Lonergan.
Sunday will kick off with a fancy dress parade followed by a family sports day and stalls in the field. We are inviting all Knocklong people to make it back to the village for that weekend and be part of the celebrations.
‘Start your own Business’ Supported by Enterprise, Employment & Education group and the KDA, Ballyhoura Development will run a ‘Start your own Business’ course for individuals who have a business idea, are in business or who have just started a business and for “Back to work Enterprise allowance” participants. The course will take place on: Tuesday August 20 from 10am to 3pm for six Tuesdays at the Community Centre Knocklong.

THANK YOU: Thank you to those who supported the recent Coffee evening in aid of the Niall Mellon Township Trust held in Hartigan’s Knocklong on Thursday June 13 at 7pm- a great €650 was raised on the night all funds raised go directly to renovation of St. Catherine’s School in Nairobi, Kenya.
