BEREAVEMENT: The death of Brendan Jones, Castletroy and formerly of Ballyloundash was mourned by entire parish last weekend. His passing after an illness bravely borne was sadly regretted as he was a well known figure in the locality. He played hurling with Herbertstown and in later years was involved in fundraising for Limerick County Hurling teams. Attached to the Ahane Club for many years he became a hard working of the East Limerick Club. Hundreds of people attended his funeral to Milford Church and Mount St Laurence Cemetery. Ahane GAA Club formed a Guard of Honour at Milford Church The club colours of Hospital Herbertstown and Ahane draped the coffin.

FEILE: Hospital Herbertstown played Easkey (Sligo) Warrenpoint (Down and and Shamrock Gaels in the Feile na nGael Under 14 hurling last weekend in Hospital. The visiting teams were welcomed to Hospital by Canon Conor Ryan PP and a minutes silence was observed before the opening game as a mark of respect to the late Brendan Jones. The squad was : Michael Bagnell, Niall Breen, Eoghan Canty, Michael Durcan, Ned Fox, Evan Grant, Colm Hanley, James Hanley, John Leahy, Bradley McNabb, Jack O’Brien, Oisin O’Grady, Adam O’Carroll, Killian O’Shea, Michael O’Neill, Killian Reale, John Riordan, Michael Riordan, Jamie Ryan, Calum Winship, Daren White, Ely Whelan and Jack Qunlan.
