BLOOD DONATION CLINIC: THE next Blood Donation clinic in this locality will be held on Thursday, 9 May, from 5pm to 8pm, at the South Court Hotel, Raheen. BAPTISM MEETING: A Baptism meeting is being held in the Millennium Centre, Raheen this Thursday evening, 2 May, at 7.30pm; parents whose babies are about to be baptised are obliged to attend this meeting. Baptism meetings, organised by the Parish Baptism team, are held in the Millennium Centre, Raheen on the first Thursday of each month, commencing at 7.30pm. The purpose of these meetings is to assist with preparation for receiving the Sacrament; parents, and godparents if possible, who reside in the parish, and who intend having their child baptised, are strongly encouraged to attend one of these meetings, where all of the information which they require regarding the Sacrament of Baptism will be made available to them.
LIMERICK YOUTH SERVICE: A second collection will be taken up at all Masses this weekend, by way of support for the ongoing work undertaken by Limerick’s Youth Service. The Youth Service works with more than 3,000 young people annually and helps to support more than 25 volunteer-led Youth Clubs throughout Limerick City and County. The Service’s mission is to advocate on behalf of all young people residing in the City and County, regardless of background, ethnicity, economic status or locality, while encouraging and empowering these young people to adopt a leading role in shaping their own futures as well as those of their Communities. Even with funding reductions, and the ever increasing demands on the services it provides, the Youth Service will do its utmost to continue to make available a quality service to the youth of our City and County. Funds raised by way of collections at Masses, for example, are of increasing importance for the continuance of this service, and Parishioners are asked to be as generous as they can.
FIRST FRIDAY: This Friday, 3 May, is the First Friday of the month. Morning Mass will be celebrated in Mungret and Raheen Churches at the usual weekday times; there will be a 7.30pm Evening Mass in Raheen Church also. Holy Communion will, as usual, be brought to the sick and housebound by the Priests of the Parish.
PIONEER ASSOCIATION: The monthly meeting of the local Pioneer Centre is taking place this Friday evening, 3 May, in the Millennium Centre, Raheen. Anyone who wishes to become a Pioneer, or who is already a Pioneer and wishes to become a member of the Raheen Centre, or who wishes to obtain information regarding the services provided by the Centre, is welcome to come along to the monthly meeting.
BRIDGE CLUB: The Social Bridge Club holds its weekly session at the Millennium Centre, in Raheen on Monday mornings, commencing at 10am.
SET DANCING: Set Dancing classes take place in Mungret/St. Paul’s GAA Clubhouse; beginners classes are held on Tueday evenings, commencing at 9pm, while Advanced classes are held on Thursday evenings, also at 9pm. Anyone who is interested in Set Dancing is welcome to attend.
MUNGRET - LECTURE SERIES: The next Lecture in the “Art, History, Community” series, taking place at Mungret College, will be presented on Friday next week, 10 May, commencing at 8pm, when Mr. Nessan O’Donoghue will address the topic “Mungret: A Community 10,000 Years a-Growing, Part One - From Mesolothic to Monastic”. Admission is free.
“ADORATION”: Adoration of The Blessed Eucharist takes place each Friday in Raheen Church following 10am Mass until 10pm. On certain occasions, when the Church is not available during these hours, Adoration will take place instead in the Millennium Centre, next doorAdoration also takes place in Mungret Church on Wednesdays from 10am until 12noon, as well as in Crecora Church on Thursdays, following 9.15am Mass until 12noon and from 6pm until 10pm.
ST. JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS: The monthly meeting of the local St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society will be held on Wednesday next, 8 May, at 8pm in the Millennium Centre, Raheen. Anyone interested in becoming involved in the work of the Society is welcome to come along to any of the monthly meetings, which are held on the second Wednesday of each month, with the exception of July and August.
MACRA NA FEIRME: The next meeting of Raheen Macra Na Feirme (Limerick City Branch) will take place on Wednesday, 8 May, in the Unicorn Bar, Dooradoyle at 8pm; the Raheen Branch holds Club meetings at this venue on the second Wednesday of each month. Anyone interested in becoming involved in Macra is welcome to come along to any of these monthly gatherings. MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSES: Anyone wishing to partake in the Marriage Preparation courses run by the Catholic “Accord” agency should note that booking of places is advisable six months in advance of the intended date of participation. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: The next meeting of the Mungret/Crecora/Raheen Parish Pastoral Council will be held on Tuesday week, 14 May, at 8.15pm in the Millennium Centre, Raheen. Members of the Pastoral Council are requested to please note this date, and to attend the meeting.
