WEDDING: Maureen Casey, St.Joseph’s Terrace and Shane Enright, Knockainey came home from Australia five weeks ago to be married. Maureen is the youngest daughter of Maura and Sylvester and Shane is the only son of Marie and Richard. Reception was held in Charlieville Park hotel. Maureen and Shane will be returning to New South Wales this weekend, we wish them every happiness.
BEREAVEMENT: Mary Martin of St. John’s Terrace, died last week, she was a very quiet lady and a respected member of the community. A native of Hospital and the terrace she lived in was built by her late Father. She is survived by her brother John, sisters Teresa and Frances, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The community extend their sympathy to her family.
GAA: Round 1 of the intermediate football championship takes place this Friday in Ballingarry at 7pm v Gerald Griffins, your support would be greatly appreciated. Round 1 of the senior hurling championship v Kilmallock takes place 12 May in Bruff at 5.30pm. Well done to Donie Reale who picked up a National League medal playing for London when they defeated Meath in the Division 2B final in Newbridge. They play Carlow in the Leinester championship in the coming weeks.
BORD NA NOG: U6 and U8 training continues on Thursday 6pm to 7pm in the GAA field. All players need to have insurance/membership paid which is only €10 for the year. Closing date is approaching and if not paid players will not be covered. Preparations are going on for Feile on July 5, 6 and 7th. The club will be hosting a team from Sligo so the excitement is building to see which club is coming to Hospital. The club’s own U14’s are doing great work for this huge weekend at the club under the guidance of Dessy Hanley Fr.Jimmy Donnelly and team liaison officer Ann Marie Bagnell. Cul Camp is on this year from July 8 to 12 July and is for all players aged 6 – 13, a great weekend of hurling and football is promised for all. The U10 hurlers got their campaign off to a flying start on Friday. First beating Kilteely/Dromkeen before losing narrowly to Emly. All players were hugely committed and played very well with notable performances from Caoimhe Real, Michael Leddin and Ross Winship.
The club held a hugely successful cake sale last Sunday in the clubhouse. The big attendance had a very enjoyable morning. The club would like to thank all who helped on the day and all those who baked for the club. A huge thanks also to all who gave hampers and to all who supported the cake sale on the day, it is greatly appreciated and the funds raised will be invaluable in helping to run the club and cover the costs for the Feile this year.
TABLE QUIZ: Mayoral Candidate Breda O’Grady, Kilteely/Drumkeen is holding a campaign fundraiser in Ahern’s Bar, Kilteely this Saturday 4 May at 9.30pm, €20 for a team of 4 followed by a big raffle on the night.
