Soccer: Congratulations to local lads Darragh Hogan and Michael Martin who are members of the Holy Cross AFC U12 soccer team that had a thrilling victory in the Limerick County Cup final against Charleville recently. The tie ended 4-4 after extra time and went to penalties. Well done to Darragh who was given the task of taking the last penalty kick to win the cup for the Cross. Displaying nerves of steel Darragh gave the Charleville keeper no chance as he hit a bullet to the top right hand corner of the net sparking jubilant scenes among the Holy Cross supporters. Holy Cross have enjoyed a fantastic season, the U12s were also runners up in the league while the U13s went one better and won their league. Well done to all concerned.

The U16 Hurlers played South Liberties on Monday evening last April 22 in Caherelly. Historically these teams have been evenly matched as they evolve up the underage ranks and this encounter was no different. From the onset this was a tightly contested match with both sides exchanging points early in the half. As they half progress Ballybricken took the lead with a well-executed goal leaving Ballybricken with a slight edge at half time. Similarly as the second half progressed there was little separating the sides but Ballybricken managed to keep the lead and it was late into the half before Ballybricken rallied getting a late goal and point to win.

Our U15 Hurlers played two league matches over the last two Wednesday nights, first up Bruree were the visitors to Caherelly. On what was a very tough evening for hurling because of a very strong cross field wind we recorded a good win Last Wednesday we travelled to Ballyagran to take on Kilmurray Incha in Round 2 of the League, in what was a very entertaining game we earned a draw despite being behind by 9 points early in the 2nd half.
