KILTEELY/DROMKEEN TIDY TOWNS: held a very successful An Taisce, Spring Clean Up covering all roads in Kilteely/Dromkeen Parish over the last couple weeks, collecting over 200 bags of rubbish. We are very grateful for the wonderful support we have received from all the different organisations in the parish & to all the people who have volunteered & came out and joined us including, Kilteely N.S., Youth Club, GAA club, Soccer Club, Cloverfield N.S., The Teach Committee Cloverfield & the Kilteely Tidy Towns Committee which organised the event. We are carrying out preparations at the minute, power hosing & cleaning throughout the village, setting shrubs & laying new beds. We would be proud to have the place shining for the celebrations & Green Flag. We would like to congratulate Kilteely N.S. on receiving the Green Flag it was a great achievement for their 1st year. Tidy Towns judging in June, Festival & The Gathering in July & the Limerick in Bloom competition in July/August. A lot of things have to be achieved over the next number of weeks and we hope for the support from businesses & residents in the village, housing estates and surrounding areas. Lets us all work together and be proud of our community.
COMMUNITY GAMES: With just a month to go now to our Sports day which will be held in the new Field, Knockane on Sunday June 2nd. This event is open to all children from both within and outside our Area. The programme will include many fun events. More details later. Full programme of events will be available shortly. As we have 9 children going to Athlone for the National Finals in late May we are holding a Cake Sale on Sunday May 19 in Cill Bhride at 11.30am. We would very much appreciate if you could help us in any way by donating cakes or supporting us on the day.

CLUB GROUNDS UPGRADE WORK: The club would like to thank all the lads who helped out last Saturday as we commenced work to upgrade the club facilities. The first phase of the works involves laying a concrete walkway around the field, installing new fencing around the playing area, installing new boundary fencing, upgrading the car park and driveway surface, replacing the nets behind each goals and painting the dressing rooms. We have put in place a 6 week programme to achieve all works and will continue on Saturday morning from 9.30am. Everyone is welcome to help out, many hands make light work!
U-16 HURLING: The U-16 hurlers has a good win last Monday night over South Liberties in Caherelly, the final score was 2-07 to 0-06. Next up for them is Kilpeacon in Crecora at 7pm on Monday May 6.
U-15 HURLING: The U-15 hurlers received a walkover from Glenroe last Wednesday evening. They now play Tournafulla this Wednesday May 1 in Tournafulla at 6.45pm.
U-12 HURLING: The U-12 hurlers lost out to a strong Hospital Herbertstown team last Thursday evening in Hospital. The lads play Ahane next on Thursday May 9 at 6.45pm in Ahane.
U-10 HURLING BLITZ: U10 hurling hurlers played a blitz on Friday evening in Kilteely against Emly and Hospital /Herbertstown. All the players got lots of game time and enjoyed the occasion. Thanks to all the parents and coaches who helped out on the night. CHILD PROTECTION COURSE: Well done to all who attended the Child Protection Course on Monday April 22. We would like to thanks Ger Downes and Gerry McNamara for providing the course and our own child welfare officer Breda O’Grady for arranging the course.
INTERCOUNTY: Hard luck to Sean O’Dea who was playing for the Limerick Minor Footballers last Sunday against Clare in the Munster Championship. Limerick lost the game on a score line of 1-12 to 0-09. Well done to Paudie Ahern who played centre forward with Limerick senior hurlers last Saturday against Wexford in Doon. Limerick won the game by 7 points.
FIXTURES: U-16 Football Monday April 29 against Mountcollins away at 6.45pm. Minor Hurling Tuesday April 30 against Pallasgreen in Pallas at 7pm. U-15 Hurling Wednesday May 1 against Tournafulla away at 6.45pm. U-8 Hurling Blitz on Friday evening May 3 in Kilteely. The U-15 county football final has been fixed for May 19th against Croom with venue and date to be decided. The junior hurlers will play their first league game of the season this weekend against Fedamore, the fixture is yet to be finalised and we will have further details on our website during the week.
Jog For John: John O’Dea would like to thank all the runners, joggers and walkers who joined him for his first Mayoral Campaign fundraiser last Sunday. There was a fun-filled atmosphere as all headed off on the 5 mile route which was completed first by Declan O’Connor. John was delighted with the goodwill and support for this event which gave a great start to his campaign which is aimed at raising funds for the local festival to be held from 18th to 22nd July.
