Tidy Towns Knocklong and ELTON: Judging begins on June 1st to August 31st. Thanks to the great turn out in both villages for the annual Spring Clean up. Monday evenings in May 7pm to 8pm the litter picking will continue in Knocklong. Elton are setting up Tidy Towns group to continue the good work. Believe 2 Achieve in aid St Josephs Foundation in Charleville: Locals in the Ballylanders, Glenroe and Glenbrohane area are rowing in behind Public Health Nurse Helena O’Connell who has set herself the tough challenge of losing weight for charity. Helena, along with six others, are losing weight with Believe 2 Achieve in Glanworth, each candidate is raising money for their own personal charity. Helena has a special connection with her chosen charity, St Josephs Foundation in Charleville, as her Helena has recruited the support of a number of local businesses and organisations to help her in her fund raising battle. Helena also has sponsorship cards available and you can also sponsor her through the Believe 2 Achieve Facebook page. With several local events currently in the pipe line, one group Helena knows is helping her is Coffee Morning in aid of St. Joseph’s Foundation. The Glen Book Club (This local book club, which encompasses the surrounding areas of Glenbrohane, Glenroe, Galbally and Ballylanders), are hosting this Coffee Morning on Thursday morning 2nd in Ballylanders Day Care Centre may in and second hand book sale to aid the fundraising drive.

ANY ONE FOR TENNIS: Would you like to learn a new sport in a fun and relaxed environment? Hospital Tennis Club is organising tennis coaching for new players or for those who want to refresh their tennis skills. Coaching starts on Monday 30th and continues on Tues 7th May, Mon 13th May, Mon 20th May and Mon 27th May. It’s a great way to exercise, meet new people and learn a new sport. Club night continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30, come along and enjoys a few games of tennis and refreshments all welcome. Membership is now due, Adults €50, children €25 and Family €100. Children’s Open American Tournament will take place at the end of May, further details to follow.
