sincere sympathy: is extended to the family, relatives and friends on the death of Maureen Fitzgerald, late of Rathkeale who used to teach in Scoil Bainrion na Heagna. May she rest in peace.

rathkeale community arts group celebrating bealtaine festival: we would love to welcome you into the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Rathkeale Arts centre for this event, which we have organised to mark Bealtaine evening of poetry and song. Rathkeale arts centre on Thursday May 2, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Peg Prendeville from Glin reading from her new collection of poems, the Purple Pencil. The evening will also include light refreshments and there will be no charge. The arts centre is located above the library on the Ballingarry Road.

The arra players: present the Chastitute by John B.Keane on Sunday, May 12 in Rathkeale Community Centre at 8.30pm sharp. Admission €10 all proceeds will be kindly donated to the Butterfly Club, Rathkeale.

The redcross annual collection: was held last weekend and €695 was collected, the comittee wish to thank those who contributed and those who collected. If you missed the collection and wish to donate you may do so by calling to John Dinnage or any committee member.

Events Colaiste na Trocaire : Cookery Competition: Congratulations to Kate Ambrose a First Year student who has qualified for the finals of the Bord Bia Fish Cookery Competition ‘Take Away My Way’. This competition is aimed at promoting safe food and healthy eating habits for young people. The final will take place in St. Angela’s College Sligo next month.

Science Quiz: A number of Junior Cert. students took part in a Science Competition in L.I.T this week. There were 21 Teams taking part from Limerick and Clare and our team came seventh overall.

Sports: Congratulations to Tara Coleman, Eadaoin Lyons, Aoife McEnery who were part of the 4 x 200 m All Ireland Winning Team in Athletics. Our Ladies Football Team put up a great show in the Munster Final against Hospital last week, they lost by a point. First Year Boys Football Team are through to the next round of the Munster Schools Competition after beating Cahir from Tipperary. First Year Boys Hurlers beat Nenagh in Munster Hurling and are through to the next round. Our Junior Camogie Team played a great game against Laurel Hill this week in Neville Park.

China Visit: Welcome home to Cormac Lynch and Fiachra O’Gorman who have returned home after a two week visit to Shanghai which they thoroughly enjoyed. They have been studying Mandarin since September as part of a T.Y Initiative and this trip gave them an opportunity to experience the culture and language of China.
