Pallaskenry Community Council: Pallaskenry community council are now due to hold to elections. Persons in the community council area over 18 years of age are entitled to nominate persons residing in the area to the community council. The nomination paper shows the number of persons in each election area to be elected to the council. For example, Church View are entitled to elect one number, An Curran/Rosschoill, 2 members. Should you wish to nominate a person or persons to the council, put their name and address on the nomination form. It will then be necessary to obtain this persons permission, by obtaining their signature. To ensure the continuation of the good work which has been undertaken by the community council over the years it is necessary that new blood come on board, with new ideas and enthusiasm. The recent refurbishment of the community centre is a great example of this good work, and the local community now has a great facility, which is getting great use by young and old. It is hoped the newly elected council will be operating by May. Nomination forms should be left into designated boxes in the local shops.
Chiropodist: The chiropodist will be in attendance at Pallaskenry community centre on Tuesday 14th May from 12 to 2pm.
Kildimo/Pallaskenry Community Games: Athletics training takes place on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8pm in the playing fields at Copsewood College. This training is suitable for children age 5 years and upwards and children will be taught the basics of athletics with plenty of fun and games. This training will continue each Wednesday until the end of June. All children from this community games area are welcome to attend. If you are not yet registered for community games you can register at this training session. Registration costs 5euro per child or 10 per family. We would welcome any help from parents who may have an hour to spare on Wednesday evening.
Sports Evening: The annual sports evening will take place on Friday 3rd May at 6pm in Pallaskenry GAA field. There will be many different events run on the evening with races for children from 5 to 16 years. The distances will vary from 60m to 1500m. There will also be field events such as Ball Throw, Long Jump and Long Puck. All medal winners will from this sports evening will go forward to represent the area at the county finals in Mungret on 24/25th June. This sports evening is a great family event and we look forward to a large attendance. A meeting to finalise this event will take place on Tuesday 30th April at 8.30pm in Pallaskenry community centre if any interested parents would like to help out on the evening.

Recent Deaths: The death occurred suddenly during the week of Gearoid Nash, Bansha Askeaton and formerly of Cluain Mhuire. He is survived by his mother Rose, father Pat, brothers Patrick and Colin and sister Edwina.
The death also occurred of Michael McNamara, Caherdavin, father of Mary Culloo, Ringmoylan.
The death occurred of Maura Lucey, Ballyshonick in Deel Manor nursing home Askeaton. She is survived by her sons, daughter and grandchildren.
The death occurred of Tom O Grady, Kilmoreen, Kildimo. He is survived by wife Carmel, daughters Sheila and Kate.
