CELEBRATION: The fiftieth Anniversary of Tarbert Primary School is being celebrated next Saturday from 4 to 7pm. The following is brief outline of the programme of events. Welcome at 4pm, official opening of the John Coolahan Library, presentation of Library Books, Anniversary Book, Art Project, Musical interlude. Keynote speaker Dr. Declan Downey, Tree planting Ceremony, refreshments. 4:45pm meet up with old friends chat and ramble around the school and view old photos and memorabilia, many of which pre-date the 1960’s. All are welcome.”

FLEADH ENTRIES: Ballylongford and Tarbert Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann wish to advise that

the closing date for the Fleadh entries is the May 16. Entry forms can be got from the Secretary Aine O’Donoghue or Deirdre O’Neill (086) 3452953. The forms must be returned to either Aine or Deirdre before May 16 as no entries will be accepted after that date.

CLOTHES COLLECTION: Shannonside Women’s Group will hold a clothes collection on May 9 from 8 to 10am in the church car park. Proceeds to Community Centre

THANK YOU: The organisers of the Good Friday Soup Kitchen would like to thank all those who supported the event. It was a great success and the sum of 1450 euro was collected and this is shared between Recovery Haven Tralee (Cancer Care) and Kerry Parents and Friends Listowel.

WALKING FESTIVAL: The Cuckoo walking Festival begins next Friday May 3. The narration of the John Paul Jones escapades in Tarbert Bay on 1779 will take place at Tarbert Old Pier at 7:30pm and those in attendance will be treated to a cheese and wine reception afterwards in the Bridewell.

GATHERING: The next steering group meeting for the August Festival takes place at the Presbytery on May 9 at 8pm and everyone who would like to get involved is assured of a warm welcome by the volunteers already at work for the planned festival.

GAA LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw. The numbers drawn were; 6, 16, 22 and 26. Bar Prize winner was Mary Carrig, Lucky Dip winners; Adrian Fogarty, Oliva O’Connor, Orla Holly, Nuala Egan, Bridie Heffernan. Next week’s draw will take place in the Swanky Bar with a jackpot of €2,100 on Saturday night. Thanks to all those who continue to support the Lotto.

MATCH RESULTS: Juniors lost to Beale last week on a scoreline of 3-6 to 2-6. Next game is at home to Finuge.

U-12 Tarbert were defeated by Ballydonoghue last Sunday evening in Shannon Park on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-6. Tarbert were ahead at half time 0-5 to 1-1 thanks to some brilliant goalkeeping by Patrick Carmody. Team; Patrick Carmody, Adam O’Mahoney, Brion Cregan, Murty Moriarty, Niall Haugh, Jamie O’Mahoney, Paddy O’Callaghan, Lorchan Leahy, Danny Stack, Padraig Carrig, Aine Enright, Graine Musgrave, Padraig Leahy, Noah Kiely, Ellen Egan, Rachel Martin, Shannon O’Mahoney. The team travel next Sunday to Annascaul.
