Card Game: The winners of last weeks card game were Florence O Connell, Paddy Sheehan and John O Connell, in runners up position were the team of Mossie McCarthy, Connie Brouder and Connie Lenihan. The winner of the table prizes were the teams of Michael O Grady, Hannah O Grady and Dan Reidy and Jackie Hartnett, Dan Fitzgerald and JJ Lenihan. Prizes on the door ticket went to Eileen Moroney and Mossie O Donnell with raffle prizes going to Joan O Grady, Sheila Breen, Betty Brosnan, Eileen Murphy, Dan Brosnan and Paddy Sheehan. This was the last card game for this season and the organisers would like to thank all who attended the games over the past six months. Thank you also to the people who helped out each week and we look forward to your support again when the games return again in the autumn.

Ceili: The next ceili at the Halla Tadgh Gaelach, Tournafulla will be held on Friday, May 17th. Dancing will commence at 9.30pm to the music of Taylors Cross Ceili Band. Refreshments will be served during the night and all are welcome.

School Newsletter: A new initiative from the local National School is the publication of a newsletter which gives parents and the local community an insight into the various activities undertaken by the pupils during the school term. Music and dancing is taught by visiting teachers and sport also plays an important role. An annual event is the cycling day which provides pupils with proper skills and there is also a First Aid training day for staff and senior students. The school is also involved in the production of a concert which will include music, song, dance and comedy sketches.

The school is in the process of establishing a preschool which is due to open this year. It will cater for children from 2 and half years to 4 years of age. Enrolment is now underway, please contact the school at 068-44470. From September the school will run a homework club From Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 4.20pm. The club will be supervised by a qualified teacher and children will receive individual tuition with their work. A maximum of 10 places will be available.

GAA Lotto: The numbers drawn in last week’s Mountcollins/Tournafulla GAA lotto were, 2, 17, 25 and 230. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. Lucky dip prizes went to Michelle Kelly, Tournafulla, Mary McCarthy, Mountcollins, Martin O Mahony, Tournafulla and Teddy Alex, c/o Kostal. The winner of the promoters prize was Dan Horgan. This weeks draw will be held at Danahers Bar, Mountcollins where the jackpot will be €3,300 and your continued support is appreciated.

League Final: Congratulations to the Limerick Senior footballers and management on winning the Division four league final with a great win over Offaly in Croke Park on Saturday last. It was good to see a Mountcollins player on the panel, well done to James Brouder who was sub goalkeeper for the team.

Birthday Celebrations: Congratulations to Mai Brosnan, Riverside Drive, Mountcollins who celebrated her 80th birthday on last Friday night. Family and Friends gathered in large numbers at the Devon Inn hotel where Mai was the centre of attention for the important occasion and she took it all in her stride.

Award Winner: It was a great week for the Brosnan family of Riverside Drive as Ben (Bernardette) was chosen as the April winner of the Local Hero Award which is jointly sponsored by Radio Kerry and the Kerry’s Eye. Nominated by her daughter, Martina, Ben received the recognition for her contribution to community life which includes many charity campaigns and fund raising events for depression and suicide related causes. Well done from all the community.
