Limerick Exiles Latest News: Plans are well in advance for what promises to be a very eventful month of March,with the Association busy in action with planning events and preparing for the celebration of St Patrick’s weekend. Amongs the activities in store are the respective parades and festivals which will take place over the St patrick’s weekend in the London. Saturday March 16th sees the Brent St Patrick’s parade and festival which will take place in Willesden Green in north west London and the Limerick Exiles will be joining in the celebratons with the parade commencing at 2.00pm and followed afterwards by the local festival until 6.00pm. Sunday March 17 sees the focus switch to central London where the anniual St Patrick’s day parade and festival will take place and the annual parade will commence from Piccadilly at 12noon and make its way through central London and finishing its journey in Whitehall near Trafalgar Square. The Parade will be followed by the traditional festival which will happen until 6.00pm and this year will feature a great variety of events ranging from Comedy tents, music and storytelling and food fair stalls.The Limerick Exiles association will be participating in both parades again this year and we invite all our friends and supporters both young and old to come along and join us!

Limerick Exiles Association Upcoming meeting: To plan effectively for the upcoming events of the association the next meeting of the Limerick Exiles Association will take place on Saturday March 2 at the Chiswick Moran Hotel,626 Chiswick High Rd ,London W4 with the meeting commencing at 5.00pm sharp.We invite all members to attend this special meeting and look forward to your attendance. Gathering 2013 Updates: Thanks to the co-operation and communication from our friends in Limerick,plans are well in place to highlight the wonderful programme of activities that are scheduled for Limerick City and county throughout 2013. Amongst the highlighlights of the Limerick events is the “An tailteann Nua” Festival which will take place at the University of Limerick from Aug1 to 5th inclusive and has a fantastic offering of events and activities to suit all age groups and interests..You can gain further insight to this event by visiting their website at www.limerickgatheringfest.com Future meetings will take place to decide on activities and plan arrangements to attend..so watch this space for further details.

On The Sporting Front: The National Football League campaign for Limerick is still very positively on track and congratulations to the Shannonsiders on a very fine 0-12 to 1-08 victory over Offaly in Tullamore in the last round. The footballers now have a deserved break before their next big challenge when they travel away to play Waterford in Dungarvan in two weeks time. Congratulations to the Limerick players who represented Munster in the Interprovincial Semi finals in Armagh last Sunday The Munster hurlers scored an impressive 3-20 to 1-14 victory over Ulster,with 6 Limerick hurlers featuring in the victory. Despite a brave performance the Munster footballers were narrowly defeated 1-14 to 1-13 by Ulster,with 4 Limerick players on the provincial panel.The attention now turns this weekend to the start of the National Hurling league where Limerick open their campaign in the Gaelic grounds welcoming Antrim as visitors for their inital fixture.we wish the shannonsiders every success this weekend! On the rugby front it has been mixed fortunes for Munster in the Rabo12 league and the attention turns back to the 6 Nations where Ireland travel to Murrayfield to play Scotland in what promises to be another great challenge. Council of Irish Counties Association London AGM: The Annual General Meeting of the Council of Irish counties Association is scheduled to take place on Thursday next Feb 28 at the London irish Centre,Camden with proceedings getting under way at 8.30pm. Our association is affiliated to the CICA and we are invited to have 4 Delegates to attend this important meeting. Look forward to seeing you at the Irish Centre and this year of 2013 sees the diamond Jubilee celebrations of the CICA with activities planned to honour this milestone.

Limerick GAA Draw 2013: The closing date for registration for this years draw is fast approaching and our thanks to our friends and supporters who have supported the cause for the coming year The first draw is scheduled to take place in early March and for further information on the draw and potential membership please contact our local co-ordinator John Giltenan on 07956 855957 for further details.
