MASSES: During Lent (Mon-Fri) Masses will be at 10am and 6.15pm.

BAPTISMS: We welcome into the Christian community Nathan Paul Shinners, son of Gearoid and Pamela Shinners, Old Cratloe Road. Baptisms take place on the third Sunday of each month. Baptism families attend 12noon Mass (during Sept-May), on the second Sunday where the babies are welcomed to the Christian community. Baptism preparation meetings take place on the Wednesday evening before the second Sunday at 8.30pm in the sacristy. The telephone number is 455514.

FIRST COMMUNION: The First Communion children will attend the 12.00 noon Mass on Sunday February 24 as part of the ‘Do this in Memory’ program.

TROCAIRE: The Trocaire boxes will be delivered to homes in the Parish and beyond, through the schools and at the Church. Please give generously. A little means a lot!

ADULT BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP: Console invites family, friends, work colleagues and community members bereaved by Suicide to Console House, 114 The Grange , Raheen on the first Wednesday of each month from 7pm – 9pm. This group will be facilitated by two of Console’s staff. There is no appointment necessary – you can arrive on the night. More information is available on 061-306792.

ALZHEIMER SOCIETY: The Limerick Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland hold a Social Club for people with dementia and their carer, in a supported environment, and this takes place each Tuesday morning in the Woodfield House Hotel, between 11am and 1pm. There is no charge to attend and teas and coffee is provided. Please phone Mary at 313456 if you would like to attend, or just call to Woodfield House Hotel on Tuesdays from 11am. The Society is very appreciative of the ongoing support it receives from the public.

CAMOGIE CLUB: Na Piarsaigh Camogie club training sessions take place on Friday evenings from 5.30pm to 6.15pm for U/8’s and from 6.15pm to 7pm for U/10’s in St Nessan’s School Hall. During the winter months and then in mid march they will move outside onto Na Piarsaigh club pitch. At the training session you will be shown the skills needed to play Camogie while still having fun! They can provide helmets and hurleys on loan for those who are interested in giving it a trial. They are always looking for new players to become involved in the club. NO NONSENCE SPIRITUALITY: This will be Spirituality for those who like to QUESTION. A series of four evenings will take place at the Woodfield House Hotel at 7.30pm each Thursday from February 21 –March 14.The first two topics will be on February 21: ‘What makes God real?’ and February 28: ‘Can an agnostic pray?’. YEAR OF FAITH LECTURE SERIES: The Department of Theology and Religious Studies, Mary Immaculate College is pleased to announce a public lecture series to celebrate the Year of Faith on Tuesdays (Room 202) at 5pm. Every Tuesday an invited guest will deliver a lecture on a topic that relates to Christian Spirituality. The Lecture series is free of charge and everyone is welcome. On Tuesday February 26 the talk will be ‘The Cloister of the Soul’: architecture and spirituality in late medieval Ireland. The speaker will be Dr Colm Ó Clabaigh,OSB.

CAHERDAVIN ENTERPRISE GROUP: This group are based in the Community Centre. They provide office services to the residents of Caherdavin and the surrounding area. Some of the things they do include Word Processing, e-mail, Binding and Laminating, Telephone Answering Service and much more. The building is shared with the AA group, Local ICA, Youth Clubs, Naoinra na nOg, Parents and Toddlers group, Library and various community groups and organisations On ant given day or night, you could expect to find Irish Dancing, Keep Fit kids, HipHop Dancing, Keep Fit Adults, Weight Watchers, Guitar Lessons using the facilities. LIVING LENT 2013: Trocaire and Limerick Diocese celebrate forty years of service together this Lent. Trocaire’s ‘Rediscovering Mercy’ is a four week interactive faith-based Lenten programme for adults exploring compassion, justice and faith.

It invites participants into a reflective space to rediscover God’s loving mercy for them and for the world. It is an opportunity to see how we are all loved by God, and out of this love, to see how we are called to love others in our families, communities and around the world. You are invited to join with others on Monday nights in the Pastoral Centre in Denmark Street from 8-9.30pm to reflect on faith and mercy in the context of human experience, of scripture, and of the call to compassion in our communities and the wider world.

LENTEN SCRIPTURAL REFLECTIONS: These evenings of reflection for Lent started on Monday evening in the Don Bosco Centre at 7.30pm. There is an open invitation to all and hopefully many will take this opportunity during the Year of Faith to enrich each other as a faith community through these reflections together.

COMPUTER COURSE FOR BEGINNERS: Would you like to learn how to use a computer and gain a qualification at FETAC Level 2 without any pressure? Part-time course for adults who do not have a full Leaving certificate qualification. The course is thirty hours in duration and will take place for 1-2 sessions per week. Times and days still have to be decided. Places are limited so it is advisable to book early. CIVIL REGISTRATION SERVICE: ¨The Civil Registration Act 2004 requires all couples planning a marriage ceremony in Ireland to register their intent of marriage with the State at least three calendar months prior to their wedding date. LIMERICK SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB: Old time dancing, Caberet and Exercise to Music is available at Pery’s Hotel, Glentworth Street on Tuesday nights. Music is provided by the resident band and the music suits all age groups. Teas are also served by the committee. Everybody is welcome together with their friends.

ST MUNCHIN’S RESOURCE CENTRE: The centre provides a transport service for older people in the North-side of the city such as Ballynanty, Clareview, Caherdavin, Ennis Road etc. They provide transport to/from medical and healthcare appointments, collecting pensions, attending Mass/library/shopping etc. They also provide a Friendly Call Service which is a weekly friendly phone from their trained staff/volunteers, where you can have a friendly chat, or discuss your concerns in confidence. They also provide a ‘Meals on Wheels’ service for older people, where you can receive a hot meal delivered to your home each day between 1pm and 2pm. CROÍ NUA – A REFLECTIVE EVENING: Facilitators for the evening will be Hilary Musgrave and Monica Brown. An uplifting, inspirational evening for all who are seeking to enrich their faith! Weaving together music, scripture imagery and ritual with selected readings from their Croí Nua Programme of Renewal for Ireland, Monica and Hilary will provide participants with a creative and prayerful space to celebrate their faith and their experience of God in the reality of their daily lives. VISIT TO IRELAND AND LIMERICK OF ST JOHN BOSCO’S RELIC: As part of a worldwide pilgrimage, a major relic of St John Bosco is coming to Ireland from 23 February to 7 March 2013 visiting twelve locations including Crumlin, Sean McDermott St (Dublin), Celbridge, Ballinakill, Portlaoise, Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Ennis Road, Milford (Castletroy), Southill and Pallaskenry in Limerick, Knock, Navan, and St Peter’s Cathedral in Belfast. St John Bosco founded a worldwide movement for young people and two religious congregations. In Ireland, the Salesians and the Salesian Sisters (Daughters of Mary Help of Christians) have 27 centres for educating and working with youth. The visit is part of the preparations for the 200th anniversary in 2015 of Don Bosco’s birth. CAHERDAVIN COMMUNITY LIBRARY: The Caherdavin Branch of the City Library opens at the following times at the Community Centre: Monday 3pm to 7.30pm; Wednesday 5pm to 8pm; Friday 10am to 12noon. Membership is free to adults and children.

SENIOR HELP LINE: Third age is a National Confidential Listening Service for older people by older volunteers. It is a local call throughout Ireland and is open every day of the year. The times are Mon-Thur: 10am – 10pm; Fri-Sun 10am-4pm/7-10pm.

ACCORD: The Marriage Preparation Courses for 2013 have started. The date of the next course is February 22/23. Courses runs from 7-10pm on Friday night and from 9am to 3.30pm on Saturday.
