BALLYSTEEN G.A.A.: Ballysteen G.A.A. would like to thank everyone who supported our quiz night on Friday last at the Top of the Town Bar, Askeaton. Special thanks to Hugh and Julie Keaveney, our excellent quiz masters and also Paddy Neville who sponsored first prize.

We raised €650 which will go towards the cost of erecting nets behind both goals in the sportsfield.

ASKEATON TOURIST OFFICE: We are now running a new free service in the office. If you need information or forms on any subject we are here to help you. Things like driving licence forms, education grants, family income supplement, back to school allowances and more. This service is free. We have a computer for your use to aid you in any of the services.

BIRTHDAY WISHES: Happy eighth birthday to Serena McCarthy who was eight on Friday, February 15.

Coláiste Mhuire News: Transition from Primary to Second Level: Meeting for 6th class pupils and their parents/guardians is scheduled for Tuesday, 26th February at 8 pm.

Coláiste Mhuire’s Got Talent: Students are busy rehearsing for this year’s show which will take place in Coláiste Mhuire on Thursday, 14th March at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale next week.

Talk on Cyberbullying & Safe Internet Use: Askeaton Community Garda Cathy Healy will visit Coláiste Mhuire on Wednesday, 27th February to speak to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Year students on Cyberbullying & Safe Internet Use.

Cash for Clobber: Our Parents’ Association recently organised a “Cash for Clobber” collection. Thanks to your generosity, this was a resounding success. All clothing and textiles will be recycled locally in Ireland. Due to the success of this event, the Parents’ Association will hold another “Cash for Clobber” day on Tuesday, April 16th so get spring cleaning! Further details re collection times will be issued nearer to the date.
