COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: There will be a Launch and Presentation on Monday evening March 4, at 8.30 pm in the Community Hall regarding the All Weather Astroturf Development. This meeting is open to everyone in the Community and will be an update of the progress so far. There will be opportunity for input from any interested parties and the committee welcome all comment and assistance. At the moment construction has been delayed by the inclement weather which shows that this development when completed will be a great amenity for everyone in the community. As part of our fundraising drive for the new AstroTurf Sports Facility we are holding a Race Night in the Coach Inn on Friday 15th March. Keep the date free and further details will follow.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL: Our Annual Party was held in the Community Centre last Sunday and it turned out to be a most successful occasion which began with Mass after which a beautiful meal was served up to the eighty five people present. The music was provided by Sean Carrig. Thanks, to all the locals who helped out with the preparation of the Community Centre, catering and serving the food, the man with the liquid refreshments, to the carver who continues the tradition and the ladies who organised a bumper raffle. A special thanks to Maureen and Ann who cooked the meat in the Coach Inn and to all the ladies who did the vegetables and deserts. Curtis O’Connell did the photographs. Well done and thank you to all concerned.
CHARITY RIDE: The Charity Sponsored Ride with Stonehall Harriers Hunt in association with Share a Dream Foundation and Kilcornan Community Council charity sponsored ride is on next Sunday February 24. CARERS: Caring for carers, Limerick Branch in Association with the H.S.E. are holding a ‘Caring in the Home Course’ one evening per week for 12 consecutive Thursdays commencing March 7 from 7.30 – 9.30pm at St. Ita’s Hospital Newcastle West.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Rathkeale and District Historical Society next meeting will take place at 8.30 on Friday February 22 at the Community Arts Centre Rathkeale. The topic for discussion is The Castle and Priory in Askeaton and the speaker will be Anthony Sheehy, local historian. All are welcome to attend and admission is free.
THE WITNESS: Limerick Diocese is presenting “The Witness”, a musical about the life, death and resurrection of Christ, told through the eyes of St. Peter on Friday and Saturday March 8 and 9. This production is being staged in the magnificent New Limetree Theatre in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. The show is produced by Fr. COPSEWOOD GAELS R.F.C.: As we had no blitz last Sunday we had good training sessions with all age grades. We announced details of our end of season trip to Athy where all teams will play games against a selection of teams from all four Provinces. We will camp out for the night with plenty of team building activities and games for all the players. This should be a memorable weekend with so many of the teams already signed up.
