PASTORAL COUNCIL: Cappagh Parish is a member of Pastoral area known as Tuath Phadraig Naofa which stretches along the Shannon Estuary. There are eight parishes in our Pastoral Area:-Askeaton/Ballysteen, Cappagh, Coolcappa/Kilcolman, Glin, Kilcornan, Kildimo/Pallaskenry, Loughill/Ballyhahill, and Shanagolden/Foynes/Robertstown. The parishes are mutually supportive; in particular back-up is provided in the absence of a priest from one of the parishes. The Priests of our Pastoral Area have a system in place, so that there is always a Priest available. Michael Bourke from Ballysteen was recently appointed Chairperson of this pastoral group. The Eolas notice is on the Church notice board and gives information on various courses etc. in the Diocese. Any Pastoral information is available from the Pastoral Centre, Denmark Street, Limerick. Facing into the Winter, or indeed at any time, if anyone in the Community cannot attend Mass but would like to receive Communion in their home please contact Ita at 0872351237 or Ann at 0876218671 and they will arrange suitable

NANTINAN GRAVEYARD: The cleanup of Nantinan Graveyard is continuing each Monday at 6pm. Grass cutting and a general tidy up. Help would be greatly appreciated from anyone who has graves in Nantinan.

CHOIRS: “Stars, Choirs & Carols” have launched a nationwide appeal for choirs and choral societies to join in breaking the Guinness World Record for the most people singing Christmas Carols together in one location. The event will take place in Croke Park Stadium on Thursday, 19 December between 7pm& 9pm and will be hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan. In addition to breaking the world record they are hoping to raise money on behalf of both www.clionasfoundation.com and www.sanctuary.ieChoirs and choral societies will be singing for success along with Louis Walsh, The Army no 1 Band, The Dublin Gospel Choir, Celine Byrne & many, many more…… ” RTE will be recording the event and broadcasting a one hour special on Sunday, 22nd December and The Oprah Magazine have been in touch to enquire if the event will be streamed live on the evening!!! PARISH HISTORIES:A book on the history of all the parishes in the Diocese will be available to purchase shortly. Cappagh are getting 100 copies of this book. This book is a once off publication and will cost €20, normally would retail at €35. To secure a copy of this publication, please leave your name into the sacristy with €20. Please bear in mind that there is only 100 copies for Cappagh. This book would be a lovely Christmas present.

AUCTION: Cappagh Community Council and the Methodist Church are holding a fundraising auction in mid-November in Cappagh Community Hall. Help is requested and would be greatly appreciated in organising this very popular and fun event. Further details on time and date in next weeks notes.

DOG NIGHT: The Board of Management and the Parents Association are holding a family night at the dogs. This fundraiser is in aid of St. James School, Cappagh on Friday 29 November at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. First Race at 7.45pm. The cost is €10 per adult, U16’s free. Face painting and nail art for younger children. Proceeds from the night are going towards the refurbishment of two school classrooms. Thank you in advance for your support. Look forward to seeing you on the night. Committee members will be selling tickets in the parish over the coming weeks.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Rathkeale and District Historical Society will hold a presentation by Liam Irwin on “The Hell Fire Club, Askeaton” on this Friday 25 October in the Community Arts Centre, Rathkeale. All are welcome.

CEILI: West Limerick 102FM are holding a Ceili Night in Knockaderry Community Centre on Friday night 22 November starting at 9.30pm. Music by Donie Nolan. Admission€10 and tea/coffee served. Raffle on the night.

KEEP FIT: Adult keep fit classes are held every Wed. night in Cappagh Hall from 7-8pm. Cost €6 per class. Aerobic workout, dance, Zumba, Circuits. All welcome. Kids Classes: Run every Wed. after school, Dance, Drama, & singing all in one class. Age 4-13 yrs. For more info: 087 – 7718988.

SOCIAL CLUB: The Alzheimer Society of Ireland hold a Social Club for people with dementia and their carer, in a supported environment, which takes place each Tuesday morning in the Woodsfield House Hotel, between 11am and 1pm. There is no charge to attend and tea and coffee are provided. Please phone Mary at 061-313456if you would like to attend, or just call to Woodsfield House Hotel on Tuesdays from 11am.
