Halloween Dress Up Disco: There will be a Halloween Dress Up Disco for children held in Meelick Community Hall next Friday, October 25. This event is being organised by the Meelick Scouts and is in aid of Catherine McCauley School, Limerick. Meelick Scouts said “ Cost of admission is three euro and there will be plenty of spot prizes on the night. Everyone is welcome. The night will begin at 6.30pm and finish at 8pm for those aged up to eight and it will begin at 8pm and finish at 9.30pm for those aged up to thirteen”.

An aerobic fitness class: will be held in Meelick Community Hall every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. All are welcome. Please contact 087 6759947 for further details.

Parteen GAA: Parteen Intermediate hurlers took on Sixmilebridge in the quarter final replay on Sunday last. Parteen GAA Club said, “Parteen lost out by the minimum in the quarter final replay. Both teams were deadlocked at 0-06 each at the break. Parteen found it hard to score in the second half but still kept fighting away and were rewarded with a penalty with ten minutes to go. Alan Murnane stepped up and blasted to the net. A further point from long range by Martin Moroney levelled this match with time nearly up. A free in injury time for Sixmilebridge ended Parteen’s Championship hopes for 2013. The game finished on the scoreline Sixmilebridge 0-13, Parteen 1-09.

Parteen took on neighbours Clonlara in the Junior C Shield match. Parteen GAA Club said: “Parteen trailed 1-03 to 0-04 at half time. Parteen came out a different team in the second half and put 2-05 on the board. Barney O’ Donnell switched in to goals instead of James Fox and this worked a dream as both players had a big influence on the game. The cavalry for Parteen were also introduced in the last quarter with Joe Cherry and Eoin Mannion using all their craft and experience to close out this win for Parteen. The game finished on the scoreline Parteen 2-09, Clonlara 2-04.

Parteen St. Nicholas Lotto Draw: Lotto took place on Sunday 20th Oct at Browne’s bar for a jackpot of €20,000.

The numbers drawn were: 04, 20, 21 & 28.There was no overall winner.Lucky dip winners were: Kevin Neville c\o Katrina Burns Athlunkard; Nessan O’Connor c\o Meelick Tavern; Sadie Quinn Lackyle Ardnacrusha; Stephen Kinsella Greenpark Parteen; Mike Reddy O’Briensbridge and Deirdre Treacy Derrrafadda Clonlara.
